The owner was so nice! We were traveling through town with our classic car trans am club, and the owner gave us a tour. He also let us take 1000 pictures with our cars! What a super nice guy! So gracious with his time! I only wish we would of stayed for the night... Next time!

I can't say enough about the Blue Swallow. The ratings and reviews speak for themselves. Not only is this motel restored beautifully, but the family who own it take pride in everything they do. My wife and I were welcomed by Cameron and Jessica who treated us like old friends. They were so personable with us and we had great...

We stopped at the Blue Swallow based on other Trip Advisor reviews, which pretty much matched our experience. There are only 12 rooms and the place is popular, so reservations are a good idea. The staff/owners are friendly, helpful, and live on-site. The rooms are clean, comfortable and small; walking in is like stepping back to the 50s: chenille bedspread,...

We drove cross country moving from CA to MO and added in the Blue Swallow Motel simply due to its history. We opted for Tucumcari as a stay-over stop. Jessica (the daughter-in-law of owners) checked us in. All owners were on site doing business (and live on site, which is cool). This is not your usual hotel check-in. before she...

A must stop on R66. Gives a good feel for the "Route". More than friendly staff, helpful and full of insights. Rooms authentic and along with other similar stops on the really added to the experience.

You can really see why this is such an iconic place to stop on Route 66. OK it is basic but so quaint it really takes you back in time and the owners error lovely and accommodating. We couldn't find that much to do in Tucumcari as museums were closed on Monday but it was still nice sitting in the...

Back in March of this year my spouse and I started talking about a road trip for May that would take us along part of historic Route 66 through, New Mexico, Texas, and Oklahoma. Route 66 was not the main thrust of our trip, but we would be traveling along part of it, so I ordered a book about Route...

American hotelgoers have become accustomed to, in Lyle Lovett's words, "an acceptable level of ecstasy." We expect the numbing effects of uninspired decor and pay-per-view teevee and watery scrambled eggs at the breakfast buffet. It's Novocaine for the soul: no surprises, no excitement, no fun, just the mediocre ecstasy of the acceptable. The Bluebird is an antidote for all of...

If you want to get the feel of the "Mother road" this is the place. Very friendly owners, and the rooms are clean and historic. They even had a nice bonfire for us the day we were there, with s'mores!! You meet fellow travelers, and enjoy the slow pace of an earlier time. We were on old RT66 for 2...

Whether you are exploring Historic Route 66 or just passing through..this is where you want to stay. Everything about The Blue Swallow Motel is awesome...from the people who own and run it to the way it has been restored. It definitely gives you a sense of the "way things used to be" on Route 66 and in America in general....

BREAK THE CHAIN! Travel just a short distance away from the I-40 off-ramp to experience the best of the past, with old-fashioned hospitality that is all too rare these days. The Blue Swallow Motel is a classic Motor Court established in 1939 on historic Route 66, and one of few anywhere still operating in its original configuration. Rooms are clean and comfortable, but retain an authentic feel from the heyday of route 66 travel. Premium creature comforts including wonderful mattresses, spa-like towels, and Desert Breeze organic shampoo, soap, and lotion. Most rooms include a garage to make you feel more at home while you are on the road, and these are perfect for parking your motorcycle or classic car for the night. All rooms are non-smoking.
