We stayed for 2 nights over a weekend and knew as soon as we arrived that we'd made a mistake for not booking longer. We were met and taken the last 20 minutes or so by a 4-wheel drive leaving our car in a B&B were it was quite safe (you're instructed to meet at a garage and I was...

"Enchanting" - Love that word you have used to describe Kosi. Perfect choice of word. Hopefully you will come again and book for longer this time!

We arrived having expected no electricity and a rustic experience. What we found was a perfect balance between rustic and creature comforts. And they are eco-friendly. The staff were very helpful and friendly and went out of their way to ensure that we had a happy visit. The guides were particularly good, not only with their knowledge of the flora...

I don't want to copy but read the review from Riny M and he nailed it. They don't offered the greatest luxery but they offer you a real experience. The trips (tonga fishing, snorkling, beach day) lead you in several parts of paradise.

We arrived with absolutely no expectations and were blown away. The Lodge is nicely tucked away in the thick forest of Kosi Bay and basically the last stop before Mozambique. We were offered to join the forest walk in the afternoon which was highly informative and entertaining. Due to the fact that our guide grew up in the area, we...

This place rates as one of my favourite places in South Africa. It's hidden in the sand dunes of the Maputaland Reserve and only has 8 thatched roofed safari huts which are privately secluded throughout the bush. The experiences we had here were remarkable: a boat trip out onto the surrounding World Heritage Listed lake system; a walk to the...

The lodge is rustic but still luxurious in its own way. The staff are fantastic (especially Bruce and Joseph who went above and beyond) and the food is good. The canoe trip is incredibly special and so is the forest walk. This is a very special place for people who love being out in nature and enjoy simple, beautiful places.

A beautiful, unspoilt little hideaway, nestled in indigenous sand forest bordering the lake. The chalets are rustic but comfortable albeit a bit small. There was insufficient shelf space so we had to live out of our suitcases. The outdoor shower and bath is a lovely romantic idea in the warmer months but visiting in mid-winter made it somewhat less appealing...

Bungalows are scattered in the forest, very private and intimate. Ours was really small, no place to open suitcases, but we liked the tent-like feeling and the open air shower! Hi there, Thank you for your feedback. We have had a problem with our soap suppliers, which has now been rectified. The lake excursion is magical, but not part of the included activities. Because of the fluctuating petrol prices, as well as the fluctuating Rand, it is difficult for us to include this in our rates. We hope you had...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Kosi Forest Lodge is a 16 bed lodge fenced into the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, an internationally recognised World Heritage Site. We provide a snug and intimate base from which guests can explore this extraordinary area of splendour and diversity, or relax surrounded by incredible natural beauty. The lounge, dining room and bar extend into a large, wooden deck built in the shade of an enormous Zulu Podberry tree, and we take full advantage of Maputuland’s sultry weather with most meals served alfresco on the deck or sheltered beneath large Albizia trees. We have carefully positioned the thatched bush suites in the sand forest for privacy and peace under the canopy of shady trees. Low wooden bedroom walls with mosquito netting and roll-up canvas blinds allow for maximum views of the surrounding forest, and arguably the lodge’s most popular feature is the romantic, open air, en-suite bathroom set in white beach sand and enclosed by a reed boma. ... more   less
