Our guide was amazing and very knowledgeable. We loved the private lodge located in the woods with a balcony to relax on and view velvet monkeys that were always waiting for you to leave your door open (they got away with a sugar bowl one day). Booking this Safari was a challenge and the travel agent we dealt with at...

I recently spent 4 nights at Phinda Forest Lodge. The rooms were beautiful and spacious, the glass windows were amazing to look through and having screens at both ends allowed the breeze to flow through as well as the night sounds! The room has a veranda with couches and a minibar that comes with everything you could possibly want to...

Beyond amazing. This is a once in a life time holiday. The food is spectacular and the staff very attentive. Nothing is too much trouble. The game spotting it brilliant and the guides/ rangers are very in tune with the wildlife. Rooms very comfortable and I cannot wait to go back!

The forest lodge was beautiful and quite different to any other safari lodges that we have stayed at before. The rooms are very spacious and luxurious. Food was delicious and chef would accommodate different requirements/tastes. Dinner was in a different location each night- boma, deck and surprise dinner in forest. Game viewing however was quieter than other reserves, but it...

That a place like this existed was beyond my expectations. It was a significant birthday for my wife and we decided to go to South Africa. Our travel agent had no experience in this area, so we kind of hoped for the best. The luxury of the accommodations, kindness of people, quality of the guides, food, ambiance etc. were beyond...

This was our third lodge of our trip. The rooms are unbelievable. Large and very comfortable. The main lodge overlooks a water hole that has animals using it all the time. Beware of the monkeys while dining. Given the opportunity, they will join you and it is not a good thing. The staff is the BEST!! if you have a...

I cannot put into words what a special place this is. It was our first safari and exceeded all of our expectations. The staff are all wonderful, everyone you come across learns your name and will ask you about your day, constantly going above and beyond to meet people's needs. The respect for the animals and guests alike is very...

During August 2016, I spent tree days at the Phinda Forest Lodge. Game viewing, in a shared Land Cruiser, was excellent. Among the wildlife seen were nyala, black and white Rhinoceros, lions, impala, giraffe, zebras, elephants and cheetah. Game drives covered the entire Phinda game reserve depending on the reported location of the desired game. My ranger was Terri and the...

We stayed four nights at this lodge as our final Safari tour with & Beyond after staying at 5 previous resort lodges on our month trip to Africa. The Phinda Forest Lodge is all it claims to be with beautiful private lodges with all the amenities such as excellent beds, lots of living space, comfortable porch furniture with mini bar,...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Set deep in the heart of a rare and beautiful dry sand forest, the award-winning Forest Lodge fuses architecture and conservation. The lodge was hand built by local artisans, with a minimal footprint on the forest floor – not one tree was felled during construction. An exquisite contradiction, floor-to-ceiling glass walls invite the forest inside, while the dense tree canopy shelters and provides privacy. Floating on stilts above the forest floor while dainty suni graze below, the 16 Zulu Zen suites blend harmoniously into the dappled shade. ... more   less
