Had a fantastic mid-week break with friends. The food was absolutely outstanding and I couldn't get enough of the pecan nut pie. What really made the difference was the beautiful location, situated on top of Pakamisa mountain makes for beautiful sunsets and sunrises. All the staff were exceptional and Isa and Anthonie were more than happy to welcome us to...

Beautiful property with awesome views and gentle wildlife. The staff were super accommodating, friendly, professional and there for all our requests from start to finish. Rooms were extremely spacious and well kept. Activities include horse riding, clay pigeon shooting, air rifle shooting and bush walks. Meals were delicious and the service was great throughout. The accomodation of the game reserve lies on top of a hill, the rooms are excellent with a large terrace where you can rest, read a book or take a little nap. The meals are more you can eat and you have fine dining in the evening. The library is the largest I ever saw. Of course also a pool...

This hotel has one of the best views in South Africa! situated at the top of a mountain the drive up is challenging but manageable, even in a small car! The speciality of this hotel are horse riding safaris. The stables are located back down the other side of the mountain in a hidden valley; here one can ride in...

Pakamisa is a very friendly, exceptionally well run private game reserve. There are eight beautiful lodges with outstanding views of the surrounding hills. Wildebeest munching happily below your private veranda. The cuisine was delightful and everything was catered to my dietary needs. The horses were well trained and very safe and very well looked after. We rode past giraffes, zebra,...

It is the little things that really matter, for example the international sockets in all the rooms, the fantastic wifi connection. 5 * lodges in South Africa are fabulous and this one is just that bit better. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Discover the taste of Paradise at this perfect Hide-away! If you are looking for something a little less formal but nonetheless exclusive, then this lodge is for you! Views are inescapable from almost anywhere on the property, not least from your private veranda. The eight suites are huge, lightly Mediterranean in style, with elegant furniture and superb bathrooms. There is so much to do here - archery, clay-target shooting, bushwalking, game drives and riding – of course! At Pakamisa, the superior game-viewing vehicle is a horse! And these divine creatures, trained by the owner Isabella herself, are bred to be more than merely mode of transport. Exciting game viewing is offered on horseback for all riding abilities. To work off the calories, bushwalks and mountain bike trails await. For the more laid-back options, be gobbled up by the beautiful library or enjoy the impressive collection of rare African artifacts and paintings in the enormous, high-ceilinged entrance hall. Otherwise pull up a basket chair, drink in hand, and lap up the lovely big pool and sprawling views beyond. Meals are an occasion; enjoy mouth-watering breakfasts to delicious alfresco lunches on the panoramic veranda of the award-winning El Prado restaurant. Contemporary and international cuisine is beautifully presented, enhancing a traditional dining experience in the elegant dining room or “Out of Africa” style under the stars. The restaurant has an exceptional wine list and offers game specialties. ... more   less
