I just returned from Cape Town from a business trip. I spent 2 nights at Umnenge Lodge. And I must say, it was great. I wondered what makes Umnenge such a special place and to me the answer is the great hospitality shown by Richard and Mary and their sons. From the first second I felt home away from home....

The owners, Richard and Mary, have created a charming lodge in Gansbaii. They are a most hospitable couple, who can provide lots of information about the various activities the area offers. We found the rooms to be large and beautifully decorated, along with a private balcony facing the sea. In addition to a delicious breakfast, they offer a home-cooked dinner,...

What a find! Richard and Mary have created (and literally built) a welcoming, beautifully appointed and charming haven in a fabulous location. They are enterprising and attentive hosts and Richard is a mine of information to ensure you get the most from the area. The rooms are spacious with great views and a private balcony for a relaxing sun-downer. Breakfast...

We spent 2 nights, Jan 3-5 in this beatiful lodge in De Kelders. View from balcony of our room was breathtaking. De Kelders is really the most beatiful sea coast of SA we exoerienced during 2 weeks. Unfortunately whales were not there(( Special words I have to say to Richard and Mary. Their hospitality was so pleasant for us. Thank...

First we booked just one night for a stop over. But me, my wife and my doughter loved the place and the warm welcome of Mary and Richard so much that we stayed for another night. The private terracce offers great ocean views and was a fantastic and secure place for our one year old daughter to strall around.

Once again Mary, Richard and the boys have made our 2-night stay in their beautiful home so very enjoyable that we plan to visit a 3rd time in the near future. It was like being home-away-from-home (only better!) We had such a fantastic time the 1st time at Umnenge 12 months ago that we deliberately planned a detour to Gansbaai...

The rooms were fantastically furnished especially the bathroom, i am just gutted we didn't have an opportunity to use the L shaped bath. We all had the holiday we were hoping for and more: Umnenge is a beautiful, perfectly situated venue: We had a beautiful view of the ocean, ( including whales and dolphins) and it is walking distance from a nature reserve. Although (very important to us) it was away from the hustle and bustle of the peak- holiday- season holidaymakers it...

There are many great B&Bs along the garden route. In order to stand out, you have to do something special. Umnenge has achieved that by designing the place authentically African (at least that's what I believe to be African) and offering a family affiliation. It's a fantastic place with direct view to the ocean and - if they are there...

We visited Umnenge lodge on our trip through South Africa in october 2011. The room had an typical "african look" and a great view on the bay. We had a great time with the family, sharing a great "braai" with fresh fish and meat.
