We have stayed with Gerhard and Alet a number of times over the past 8 years and every occasion has been a delight. The location is unparalleled. As the longest-established bed and breakfast in the area, you will not find a better authority on -- and sightings of -- whales, pods of dolphins, porcupines, mongoose, not to mention the spectacular... We stayed with Gerhard & Alet in October for 3 nights. It was a pleasure to stay in their beautiful home. They are such a lovely couple who are so friendly, helpful and informative and Alet arranged our whale watching boat trip which was a great experience. The view of the whales from Elmein room was fantastic - it was... More

In November we spent 3 days at the De Kelders B&B. The wonderful guesthouse is situated on the cliff directly at the sea and is the perfect place for "relaxing with whales". A very special thanks to Alet and Gerhard, we were not like guests but more part of the family for our time there. The picnic with you down... More

We're staying at this B&B right now for 2 more nights, and to be honest, it is just perfect. I am actually right now watching the whales playing only a 100m from the room. We're staying in Elmien room, it has a little balcony and is big enough. breakfast is great with all you need. The hosts are very nice... More

Whale watching in Walker Bay is best from De Kelders and this is the most wonderful place to stay while you do that. Alet and Gerard are like your favorite Aunt and Uncle and welcome you into their home. This was our second stay in this comfortable and homely house and we will be returning every year during whale season.... More

Hosts Gerard and Alet are utterly charming and serve delicious breakfasts. Extremely comfortable home on the cliffs wonderfully situated above Walker Bay, which abounds with whales during the season July to November. Rooms are very comfortable and some are sea facing with wonderful balconies to sit and watch the whales. Lovely walks along the cliff edge to Hermanus or Gansbaai.

We stayed at De Kelders during the winter season in hopes of watching the whales and we were very pleased we did! This was a great B&B with amazing views, great rooms, excellent breakfast and wonderful hosts! Upon arrival we were offered an upgrade to the Whale Room which was much appreciated. We had booked a whale watching boat trip... More

We stayed at this spotless and welcoming B&B with direct access to the ocean for only one night - wish we could have stayed for longer as the hosts were so kind and hospitable. The location is out of this world.Parking is easy and the bedrooms and bathrooms are stunning and very private.

Great place. Ask for room with ocean views. Family-like bed and breakfast. Amazing views on the ocean and on the whales. The owners are very helpful and they know a LOT about whales. Much quieter than Hermanus. Excellent value.

When we arrived we were greeted warmly by Alet who directed us to our room. There are 4 rooms in all and we were in Elmien. Your could see the sea from the bed and it had a wonderful balcony which had an uninterrunpted view of the whales. If location is what you are looking for, then this is the... More
