This was my first trip to South Africa. Starting with a 3 day safari in Kruger, attending a conference in Plettenberg Bay, then driving along the Garden Route towards Cape Town. In Plettenberg I have being told of a hidden gem near Gansbaai, the Sea Star Lodge. I stayed three nights in the Master Suite, which certainly had the "wow"...

After much nagging from my 18year old son to Shark Cage Diving I decised now was the best time to visit Gansbaai as it is the whale mating season. I found this lodge on the internet and booked a Weekend stay for Myself, wife, son and Daughter. Our stay at Sea Star was one of the best that we have...

My family and me traveled the Western Cape for two weeks. Between Cape Town and Knysna we stayed in five different four and five star places. The highlight was Sea Star Lodge. Besides the wonderful surroundings (we watched a lot of whales and dolphins from our Bay View Room and its beautiful balcony) the lodge itself is stunning. We felt...

My husband and I stayed at the Sea Star Lodge in de Kelders and were completely blown away by the experience. We stayed in the honeymoon room which occupies a glass-walled corner overlooking the bay. Imagine sitting in an armchair, luxuriously clothed in the provided robe, watching whales gamboling right in front of you! The location is perfect for whale...

Gansbaai is a place slightly off the beaten track just past the popular Hermanus. In many ways it has more raw beauty to offer and is a place where you can get away from it all. Our hosts have managed to create a unique travel experience with luxury accommodation in a serene setting which encapsulates their years of travel experience...

We've been to South Africa many times since 2002 and have developed a special fondness for the Western Cape and, in particular, Gansbaai and Sea Star Lodge. Autumn 2009 was our first time staying at Sea Star, and although we arrived somewhat late in the evening, the owners greeted us with champagne and wonderful conversation. We felt so comfortable and...
