Small, Owner run property situated on the western edge of the Chobe National Park. Our remote location means our game drives do not reach the masses that inhibit other Chobe Lodges. Also enjoy boat trips on the Chobe and walks within the Chobe Forest Reserve. Muchenje offers Rustic luxury accommodation with outstanding views across the flood plains and into the Caprivi Strip.

Loved the lodge and loved Chobe! This was our third stop and second safari lodge on our pre-cruise holiday. Muchenje Safari Lodge was a special place as it exudes what one thinks of an African Safari. The views of the water/plains that the lodge and our room overlooked was

Friendly, helpful staff and lovely food. Rooms good too!!! A bit of a drive to Chobe but made up for it when you get there. Well informed driver/ guides. Plenty of animals to see. Saw the big 4. No rhino in the park. Plenty of hippos to make up for it. A lovely place to relax

Everything about our stay at Muchenje Lodge was truly memorable. We were given such a warm welcome on arrival and the entire kitchen and admin staff all held a singing and dance session for our supper. We got to know our great hosts Kiddy and Toff well by the end. Being just

Hallo Stephen, It is with great pleasure that i read this report. Right from the arrival, through to the departure, you and your family brought so much fun and excitement with you, it was an absolute pleasure having you here, and seeing the enjoyment. The photos i saw, were amazing and i am sure you will have loads of after-fun, going through each and every one of them. Hopefully, we will be able to meet again, its just a short hop, skip and a jump from where the family is. Thank you once again for sending me the photos. Lots of warm greetings from the Muchenje Lodge Team

Hi Tim, Firstly, thanks very much for your honest review of our Lodge. We are glad that we managed to make your stay with us, in general, a memorable one. We hope that you have lots of beautiful photos and memories to look back on. Unfortunately, what you observed regarding to no off-roading, is true for all the Botswana National Parks and Game Reserves. It is only a few Lodges or Camps that have their own private concession-areas, where they could drive where they want. When the grass is higher and dry during August, September, October, November time, it becomes more difficult to see the cats, as their colour is just so similar to the grass, they seem to disappear. That is when most people wish to follow them when seen walking in the distance. We think that the responsibility here must be one of eco-friendly tourism (don't wreck the bush or the environment), also not to disturb the animals by following them into the bush and not pushing new tracks into a fragile environment. And fragile it is, governed by long periods of drought and short periods of rain. If one guide does it, the others will follow and then the self drivers too. Before long, we will have very few bush-areas left that are not criss-crossed with tracks and where animals can still feel safe and hide away from vehicles. We hope this explains it a bit. With warm regards, Salang Sentle (means - Stay well)

Hallo mplsalf. Thank you very much for your lovely review. It seems that Muchenje lodge's goal, to create a home-away-from-home, worked its magic once again. We are really glad to see that you enjoyed your stay with us. Maybe we will be able to host you again someday, but in the meantime you will have all the beautiful photos and memories to look back on. With best regards from the Muchenje Lodge Team.

Hi. Muchenje is in the Chobe Forest Reserve so regularly has wildlife through the camp. The rooms are bricks and mortar so night sounds are muffled but hyena and lion are often heard. Elephants pass regularly particularly in winter. The Chobe National Park is about 5 -10 mins away so our activities offer range of experiences to explore this amazing wildlife area
