We stayed at Chitabe in early December and can honestly say it was a life changing experience! We'd flown in from Vumbura Plains, further North in the wetter area of the delta and Chitabe's drier environment made a wonderful contrast. It's also the most personal and welcoming safari camp we've ever visited - the staff here are gold and really...

Chitabe is one of my favourite destinations in Africa! We travel extensively throughout the continent and this remains one of my favourites for many reasons, the game viewing is superb for wildlife photographers, the camps are comfortable and a 'home away from home' and the team working on site are so accommodating. We saw 33 different lions, 4 leopards, 3...

Animals and their interaction are amazing to see at Chitabe.. the tents have been redone a year ago and are very nice for a classic Camp.. the one thing that is disappointing is the food.. I could not find much that I liked to eat and the selection on buffets were not even great or bountiful.. Also it was really...

Second time to be in Chitabe . . . very comfortable, modern sense but it is all about the animals . . . hard to be in a place as genuinely wild but genuinely comfortable - not to be confused with Jao or Zarafa . . . same but different . . . better animal sighting over all at Chitabe.

This was my favorite camp fro our recent trip to Botswana. You can not be any closer to the animals!! Our first afternoon, a baboon was frolicking on our tent roof, another day an elephant was immediately behind our balcony! The game drives and guides are knowledgable, staff is all superb. The tents are well appointed with attention to detail....

This was the third of my three camp trip to Botswana, a truly magnificent experience. The service, food and ambience of the camp were second to none. It is a relatively larger camp with ten tents, but each staff member introduces his or herself and remember each guest's name (which can't be easy), giving the camp a much more intimate...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The archetypal Okavango game-viewing destination. Raised on decks on a beautiful tree island in the south-east of the Okavango, Chitabe Camp looks out across a Delta floodplain that is transformed during winter from dry rushes to lush oasis, one of only a few distinct habitats in this diverse concession. Back in camp, the thatched dining and lounge area provide beautiful views, while each tent exudes its own personality, aided by superb fine art wildlife photographs. A pool provides cool sanctuary in the heat of the day. Highlights: On this classic safari experience, game drives take in the different habitats - the variety of these ensures that there is an equal diversity of wildlife, including big game such as elephant and buffalo, but also a range of plains game species like wildebeest, tsessebe and lechwe in numbers that support healthy lion, leopard and hyaena numbers, as well as regular visits by wild dog and cheetah. The camp is composed of 8 tents: spacious en-suite Meru-type tents, individually styled; outdoor shower; double vanity basins. Experiences include: day and night game drives • guided walks (on request). ... more   less
