This was my first African Safari but I would find it hard to imagine how Macatoo could be much bettered. The people were outstanding, the horses were excellent and well looked after (by horsemen who cared), the wildlife and surroundings were fantastic. Collected at the airstrip, no waiting around the jeep was there, sung into the camp, knowledgeable and helpful...

This is a very special place, run by wonderful people who really want to make sure that you have an amazing time. If you can ride confidently and love the bush, wild animals and the unparalleled peace and relaxation of this unique and remote place, then look no further. My non-riding spouse also had a wonderful time, again thanks to...

Macatoo is a magical tented camp in the Okavango Delta. The accommodation is very comfortable and clean. How they produce the high quality food in this location is beyond me. They even bring lunch (complete with tables, chairs, linen tablecloth and napkins, glasses, crockery and cutlery AND champagne!) out into the bush to meet the ride on occasions. We sat...

We stayed here 4 nights of our 25 night African journey. Besides horse back safari, you can go on a boat safari, truck safari, or go fishing. The tents are very nice. The food was simple but good. I think left-overs were rare (i.e. you are not overfed). You are not “roughing it” but it’s not on the same level...

I stayed here for 10 days and loved every single minute of it. I rode 5 different horses and they all suited my riding ability. The riding offered were a great mixture of fast gallops, very wet water canters and relaxing walk/trot so you can savour the beautiful landscape you are riding in. There were exciting moments of close encounters...

Great location, cozy tents, well-ridden and groomed horses, super nice team - you simply feel at home and don't want to leave! Best of all riding through the floods and elephants saying hello during tea time :-)

After eight days at Macatoo we just came back and cannot get rid of the pictures of beauty, peace and excitement on the horseback. John and his team understand perfectly to make you feel being part of this breathtaking place on earth. The horses, the guides (Thabo and Emdi), the wildlife, the camp, the tents (thank you Riana 😉) all...

If you want to 'check out' from life for a few days, gallop through flood waters with giraffe and end the day with a good G&T, then there is nowhere I've found quite like Macatoo. Lovely accommodation, good food, and amazing guides. The horses are well matched to your level of riding and in excellent condition.
