My wife and I visited Macatoo in May which provided beautiful weather but not too hot to ride in and the delta was rather wet! We didn't really know what to expect but it was just magical from start to finish. We were woken each day with a welcome cup of tea as we gazed out of the front of...

Permanent tented camp. luxurious, spacious tents with decks overlooking the waters. Great hospitality and food, wonderful champagne lunches and dinner settings make unforgettable experience. Lovely, well cared for horses with amazing gallops through the flood waters. Amazingly close encounters with the wildlife leaving some unforgettable memories. Good riders would get the most out of this trip although non riders can...

Macatoo Camp is just magical ! The team is absolutely great. Very friendly and professional. Horses are perfectly cared. this is a very special place, made even more so by the great staff, the first rate horses and the awe inspiring location in the delta. For many many years I had dreamed of splashy canters through the flood plains and of galloping alongside giraffes. The reality met these high expectations. The animals you see are truly wild, this is...

AI TripAdvisor Okavango The Best Game Drive Vehicle Safari lodges are, for the whole, much of a muchness. It has become a major fashion industry where they are all watching one another, and each new innovation is immediately copied and rolled out across the continent. In the business it’s called “what would Mrs Schwartz from the Hamptons want?” So it’s...

Just got around to writing a review of Macatoo camp which I visited in August with my husband and daughter. Its an unusual riding experience which is set to thrill the seasoned rider. In August the flood water is high and the horses are literally chest deep in the channels- sometimes trotting with a high gate you would expect of...

When I planed my holiday in macatoo I thought it was for sure that it is an" once in a lifetime holiday". The problem now is, that I liked it so much that I want to go back. Food: Quality and quantity: very good! Stuff: like friends (funny, crazy and most of the time good behaved ;)) Tents:comfortable, but the...

We spent two weeks in Botswana with our daughters over the summer. It was incredible overall (night safari, walking, mokoro canoe, mobile camp, car of course) but the clear highlight was our stay in Macatoo. Being the weakest rider of the family (and the trip organizer...) I only allocated 3 nights there but regretted it wasn't more. For us, the...

It has always been a bucket list thing to ride in Africa and after looking in to all options this holiday seemed the best and I was not disappointed. This would rate as one of the best holiday I have even had. Iconic destinations included riding in Kenya in the Masai Mara with Gordie and Felicia Church in mobile tented...

Totally bowled over by my recent trip to and stay at Macatoo with African Horseback Safaris! Horses & rides, guides, terrain, food, tents, comfort, support, friendship - everything! The trip in across the delta in a six-seater plane from Maun, and arrival by water to the camp was magical in itself. More experienced riders will thrive on the fast &...
