I have never stayed in a room this luxurious. The room was incredible, the staff was friendly and attentive. The drives were superb. I missed the communal dining table. This was luxury at its best; with a hand written menu, a beautiful location and a luxurious lodge.

This was my 2nd trip to the beautiful Okavango Delta in Botswana, and I can honestly say that Vumbura is one of the most beautiful places that I have ever been to. Not only is the camp incredibly luxurious, but the staff was amazing and the animal sightings were unbelievable. As in all Wilderness-Safari camps, the level of guiding is...

The expectations for this camp were extremely high. We had a rocky start, but in the end had a wonderful stay. Before I write anything about what went wrong, I want to first comment that the staff made up for the mishaps. Our guide Gee, who usually works at their sister camp Little Vumbura, is an amazing guide. He is...

The camp is beautiful, the staff excellent, food wonderful and the game viewing superb. However the entry to the lodge was a hazard because of no railings at the initial steps and the "tented" luxury accommodations an accident waiting to happen (which it did!). The tented suite is huge be much wasted space, at least for us. The huge sitting...

Wilderness Safaris is a masterclass in ecotourism. Their classy approach to absolutely everything they do is a step ahead of anything I have ever seen. Botswana has a model wildlife conservation programme and it shows. Beautiful landscapes and animals, every aspect of this trip was life affirming. Best trip of my life. So far.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Vumbura Plains, a luxurious retreat of contemporary design, seems to float on a sea of waving reeds in the midst of a large floodplain. The sumptuous rooms, each with its own plunge pool and sala, are uniquely designed, spacious and raised on wooden decks to take in a wide-angled vista. Because the area is a mix of water and dry land, wildlife is diverse, so water-loving lechwe splash through the reeds, while rare sable antelope can be seen in the dry savannah. Lion, leopard, elephant, cheetah, wild dog and buffalo along with plains game and prolific birds provide an excellent all-round wildlife experience. • 14 tents • 100% solar • day and night game drives • village visit • mokoro • boat • nature walks • catch-and-release fishing • spa ... more   less
