The pool is very large. They also have a children's pool area, so that keeps the little ones away from the big pool to an extent. We were there in early June before school got out so I can only say we had no problem getting a lounge chair and enjoyed the pool.
Since you are going the last week in August it may be a little crowded.
There are none of the negative things you mentioned. The main bld. Is only about 10 years old. When you get there, if you don't like the room, and I can't imagine you wont, let them know and it will be addressed ASAP.
