Apple Pond Farm and Renewable Energy Educational Center (2 hours from NYC) is a family run organic farm. Green energy systems (a wind turbine and solar panels) provide 90% of our energy needs. We raise vegetables, fruit, chickens (eggs and meat), lamb and goat. Newly renovated our guest house has 4 bedrooms, 2 baths and a fully stocked kitchen, living room, deck and dining room filled with books, videos, and games for adults and children. Dogs are welcome. Groups of up to 6 are $300 per night +tax with a two night minimum week end stay. Larger groups can be accommodated. Mid week and longer bookings are less. Guests are invited to join us for farm chores - egg collecting, vegetable picking, feeding the animals and making hay. In season, pick vegetables from our garden. Add-on experiences are available: learn to make goat cheese, spin and dye wool, plant an organic garden, raise backyard chickens, conserve and produce energy for yourself.

Spent several days in August with children and grandchildren. A wonderful time was had by all! Sonja, Dick, (and Marissa) are warm, welcoming, and patient with children. They encouraged questions and included everyone (even small children) in farm chores. All were invited to participate or just relax in the house or watch from the deck. We enjoyed feeding the animals, milking the goats, collecting eggs, picking vegetables, and learning about running the farm. Farmers are knowledgeable and animals are friendly and well taken care of. We got to interact with dogs, cats, goats, sheep, chickens, bunnies, and even Belgian draft horses. Molly, the enthusiastic border collie and Arlo, the calm and gentle burro were particular favorites. The area is rural, and the scenery is spectacular. The guesthouse is clean and comfortable with lots of living space and a large assortment of toys and books (for all ages). Particularly recommended for families with children, but will be appreciated by visitors of all ages.

Rolling Hills and beautiful scenery. A farm and ecological center. Friendly knowledgeable warm and interesting proprietors, and wonderful animals: sheep, goats, horses, dogs and cats. A great place to hike, relax on the porch, or to explore nearby attractions. An excellent weekend family outing. Spectacular in spring or fall, but delightful any season. This is really a guest house, with full kitchen and living room, not a hotel.
