Under the cloak of Covid I wanted to take my wife away for a weekend safely. Persued a place new and not far. The Brewster was perfect. What a hidden gem. Wonderfully vintage with roots in the gilded era. They spoil you start to finish. Great staff. Caitlin took us down old servants passage to private wine cellar featured in Wine Spectator. No reason to leave, room had private enclosed 2nd story porch overlooking lake. Restaurant same special attention, server Steve was the bomb. The food was fantastic. All around 5 star.

Our first time to do Thanksgiving Dinner Take Out!! With alternative holiday plans the necessity this year our choice was to support local businesses. The Brewster did not disappoint. We ordered one Thanksgiving dinner and one Filet Mignon. Both done beautifully with an organized drive through pick up experience. Looking forward to next year’s home cooked meal but we’ll definitely revisit the Brewster for dine in or take out in the future.

We were in the room directly at the top of the stairs. It was large and nice except for the gigantic tub in the corner of the room (whatever, not for us). However, it had a lovely view of the lake. The shower was a 2 person shower and the bathroom was enormous. What I did not like was that there was no shelf to put your shower toiletries on and I ended up setting the bar of soap on the ground (ick) while attempting to shave my legs. Also, somewhere around 10 or 10:30 there was a ton of banging downstairs, which I presume was the closing down of the restaurant. There was a Keurig on the floor for morning coffee which was nice. With COVID we were given $10 towards anything in the gift shop instead of breakfast. There were muffins and whatnot. Our stay was just ok, or maybe because we got rained out I was just not feeling it.

Response from Caitlin Gambee, General Manager at The Brewster Inn
Responded Sep. 5, 2020
Hello - Thanks so much for your feedback. There is now a shelf in the shower for all soaps to be placed. If that is something you prefer, please don't hesitate to ask the front desk as that is typically a very quick fix. The restaurant can be very busy as night. We assume you may have heard the front door open and close a few times. We do have rooms in the carriage house that are away from the hustle bustle of the restaurant and that seems like it would have possibly been a better fit for you. That room is highly requested, but if you have no use for a jacuzzi tub, we have many alternative options with great lake views. As always please let us know if there was anything we can do to make your stay better.

My husband and I had the most AMAZING vegan anniversary celebration here at The Brewster Inn in Cazenovia, NY. Normally we would have taken a trip to some unexplored part of the world, but the times and the restrictions being what they are we decided to treat ourselves to a good old vegan dinner out instead. What The Brewster Inn provided was quite simply put insanely DELICIOUS and so beautifully presented. Massive shout out to Chef Dave who created our incredible meal and to Pastry Assistant Camille who made the most unbelievably delicious vegan dessert. If you are vegan or are considering to become vegan then please do consider dining at the Brewster and requesting a vegan meal in advance (requesting it in advance isn't strictly necessary but I imagine it helps). You shall NOT be disappointed. I would love for more people to discover how wonderfully satisfying vegan food can be and even though it is not what The Brewster Inn specialises in, we were AMAZED at how GOOD and BEAUTIFUL our dishes were. I strongly invite you to give it a go! Caitlin, Kirk, Steve, Jason - thank you all so much for accommodating our dietary requirements, and with such flying colours, too ! We look forward to seeing you all again very soon.

Celebrating four birthdays since January with best friends. Not a better setting in all of Central New York. Sat in covered veranda overlooking beautiful Cazenovia Lake. First class service by our waiter Alex. Enters were phenomenal. A thrill to be out after a long indoor quarantine and to splurge at a top rated restaurant. Best, Best, Best.
