I recently spent one night there. What I love about the place is the location and the bed, both excellent. Everything else is rather average. My room was clean and not at all attractive. Staff - the owner - is there only from 10 am to 5-6 pm, while cafe is open. When I came back in the evening I could not get TV work and there was nobody to ask for help because the owner had already left. It is not Bed and Breakfast either because there is no breakfast, which is quite strange as the cafe is on the first floor. For early breakfast I went to Dunkin Donuts 2 min away (around the corner from the church across the street, and the supermarket is right there too.) Overall, this place did not add to the pleasure of being in the lovely charming Cold Spring.
This property is not a B&B. It is a small hotel on Main Street with rooms above the ground floor. Ongoing construction has severe impacts: no breakfast; hammering noises start at 8AM; water leaks into room #1 from roof during rainstorms; water faucet in bathroom sink of room #3 isn’t hooked up to water. Proprietor is nice & gregarious—but there is no staff on premises to greet you in the afternoon or evening and help you get oriented to the town. You self-park on the street (not a problem midweek, but a bit more challenging on weekends). Great location and rooms are nicely remodeled (though on the smallish side). If you are looking for a charming, gracious B&B experience with excellent host or hostess on site, this is not your place. And beware of construction problems.
We booked this B&B for an overnight in Cold Spring. While the location was great and the proprietor was quite nice the room (#4) was tiny, containing just a bed and a large chest of drawers. Decor was non-existent, although everything appeared quite clean. Most surprising was the lack of any breakfast offerings - the cafe downstairs was gutted, obviously under renovation or something, which was not pointed out before we booked. There was a table with some pre-packaged pastries (think "Drakes") and a communal fridge offering free water and juice but hardly anything I would call a breakfast. Luckily across the street is an excellent cafe serving breakfast but when I book a "bed and breakfast" accommodation I do expect more than a cookie. Not worth the price.
My husband and I stayed here for one night so that we could hike during the day and enjoy the night in Cold Spring. The owner of the BnB and cafe was wonderful and made us feel right at home. We ate at the owner's cafe below the BnB since we got 20 percent off dinner included in our booking. He made us feel very special by giving us a complimentary glass of wine and cheesecake at dinner. I also have to mention that the food at this cafe is exceptional! The room was small, but very comfortable and nice. There were snacks (chips/crackers/chocolate) and drinks (water bottles/juices) in the hallway that guests could help themselves to. The location of the BnB is right on Main Street in the downtown area, only about a 10 minute walk to great hiking. We definitely reccomend this BnB to others staying in the area.…
Wanted somewhere to stay for a few days in Cold Spring and found here. Picked up our key from Jimmy the owner in the cafe on the ground floor. Rooms are all up a staircase and our room (Room 3) was very nice. You go in to the cafe for breakfast. Jimmy and his staff in the cafe were really friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. A great base to explore the area
