So here I am 3 days into a 5 day solo trip and couldn’t help but write a review. From meeting the representative at the airport, the quick 7 minute speedboat ride to the gentleman at check in, arriving here was so simple, and welcoming. Ahmed M in the breakfast room remembered my peppermint tea order on the second morning!!! And April in the Kandu pool bar is an absolute star. If you want to avoid the rude nationality, that have an aversion to spf, and no manners what so ever, go to breakfast early 😉 I booked the All Inclusive option not quite knowing what to expect, and have been amazed...the quality of the food in the A La Carte restaurants is exceptional, especially Thila. In Thila the hostess at the desk is so genuine and friendly, and the team serving have been great (sorry I don’t know their names). The pool, gym, facilities are fantastic and exactly what you need for a little escape. Although the room I booked is a little dated, it is clean, light and bright. The bathroom with stand alone bath and outdoor shower is dreamy!! Thank you Kurumba for looking after me during a much needed, amazing break on your beautiful little island. I will return!!! …

Kurumba FIRST! I've been to Kurumbe many times but I've never written any reviews. I never do this and nowhere on my travels around the world. I know it's a bit selfish to other travelers, but I have my reasons. This time I'm making an absolute exception and I'll tell you why I called this review so flashy: 1. location of the island and its character. Kurumba is a 10-minute speedboat ride from the airport. This will be appreciated by every traveler after a long flight. The character of Kurumba is the ideal of an exotic island for tourists looking for "all in one"! The island is surrounded on all sides by amazing beaches with turquoise water. In addition, unlike many islands, the reef is very close and therefore it is possible to experience great snorkeling with sharks, turtles, stingrays and lots of different colored fish. The island itself is a real paradise garden. Who does not know how to imagine a garden in paradise, let him travel to Kurumba 😉. 2. great food and drink. The quality of food and drink meets the most demanding requirements of all gourmets. There is a main restaurant and 5 other themed restaurants with a level of 5 * and more. 3. service and services. I have traveled a lot in the world, but nowhere have I met such kindness, human approach and understanding as here. It didn't matter if we were looking for diapers or milk powder for our little daughter .... or we needed to extend the visa at the offices / we were originally supposed to spend 15 nights here and finally extended our stay to 74 nights - I believe you can understand from our review why / 4. SPA - an amazing spa that will really let you fully relax and if you have a health complication, they will try to help you solve it - in my case they succeeded. I work here great masseuses from different countries, where they really know what a great massage looks like. 5. The most important at the end - PEOPLE! Many loyal people from all over the world work at Kurumbe and some of them for decades! The staff here has always been helpful, smiling and ready to deal with any situation. But this year was completely different for me and my family. Thanks not only to the worldwide complication with COVID-19, I spent many days and nights here and had the opportunity to observe and understand a lot of things that I could not notice during one week of my stay. In a good way, I want to use the old good saying: "The fish stinks from the head!" And even though I have respect for all previous general managers / GM / I have to say that Andrew as the current GM Kurumby is THE BEST. Nothing is a problem for him, he is on his feet and on the ground, even after a short acquaintance, he feels that he has known him for many years and can turn to him with anything. It is quite unusual and I congratulate the owners of the island for nominating Andrew to run this resort. In addition, Andrew managed to pass on all his positive aspects to his people. And I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the Kurumba staff - from smiling gardeners, through cleaning, excellent chefs, restaurant staff to absolutely famous ladies in the great Spa. I would like to mention just a few of them who are not only stuck in the memory of their faces and names, but above all they remain in my heart: thanks to Elveer and her great ladies in Spa. Thanks to Mr. Kelum, who took such great care not only of the food of our little 15-month-old daughter. Thanks to the chef-chef Thil Uipulla and his colleagues for the excellent 5 * food. Thanks to Ronald from a Japanese restaurant for the best prepared tuna in the world with an amazing presentation of grilled dishes, including a great fire show. Thanks to Azmeel, Shah, Nur, who took care of us in the morning and in the evening. Many thanks to Sasha, Priyankara, Akter and Hillary for the absolutely above-standard care at the bars ...... and Rawi our room boy ... was a clear confirmation that everything works perfectly on this island. But many thanks to everyone who makes this piece of land in the middle of the ocean a wonderful place in the world every day. For all these reasons, I dare say a very bold but very sincere statement - the island of Kurumba has become my second home and the people who take care of Kurumba and its guests by my friends. This was our second time staying at Kurumba. The appeal of this place, aside from its proximity to the airport, resides mostly, in my opinion, in the friendliness of the staff. One of the reason we loved our first stay so much is the excellence of service we received from Chef Nanda. He is actually, without exageration, the reason we decided to come back to Kurumba. As a vegan myself, finding a resort that can accomodates me is very important, as I am a huge foodie. In that case, the word « accomodate » is an understatement. Chef Nanda, once again, went above and beyond to prepare for me the most delicious meals every single day. The care and the attention to details he put in each of his dish makes him not only an incredible chef but also a wonderful human being. He and the other talented chefs ( Chef Viji and Pastry Chef Shahid were also exceptional) are true assets to this resort and made the biggest difference for us. My partner and I love splurging on our vacations, and we love discovering new exotic places. The fact that we decided to come back to Kurumba twice says a lot on the impression Chef Nanda and his team made on us. If you are, like myself, a traveller who puts food as one of your priority during your travels, I highly recommend Kurumba. We were a big group of 14 people and we are simply delighted with the resort. Paradise on earth! The service is excellent, the food is exquisite and the staff is kind and helpful. 10 mins by speed boat. When we were there we saw the odd sea plane fly over but no noise from Male or the airport, again water was glass clear for snorkelling, white Sandy beaches as you would get at any of the resorts. We found it extremely peaceful.

The beaches all around the island are sandy and not rocky at all. Once you are beyond the sea walls, shoes could come in handy, however you would ideally be wearing your flippers fro snorkelling, so no need
