We spent one night here, on a weekend, in mid August. It was busy, but service was friendly. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Plenty of parking right in front. Desk person suggested a local pizza place nearby, which was very good. Breakfast was basic, but decent. Great location for exploring the HRV. Rates are a bit high but not unexpected.
We had to stay overnight due to car problems. The hotel was clean, breakfast good and the staff very nice. A special shout out to Maria at the Front Desk who went out of her way to help us out. Looking around the area, I think this is probably the best place to stay in town when visitng West Point
I’ve stayed here twice. It’s definitely over priced but their aren’t many options in the area. I agree with the other reviews. The WiFi barely works. The water in the shower was uncomfortably HOT even on the lowest setting. The room was humid and smelled damp. On the plus side, my room was large. The staff was friendly. It’s nice to have a free breakfast especially since food options in the immediate area are limited. (We did walk across the parking lot to the BBQ joint for dinner one evening and it was great). There’s a frig and microwave which are also nice to have. Overall it’s an average budget hotel that costs more than a budget hotel should cost.
This is an older hotel but I felt I was in Disney World while there. All of the staff was so happy, smiling and willing to help. It was clean and comfortable but as I said older. There is not much else to offer in the area and I would stay there again.
Choosing a place to stay when you visit your cadet at US Military Academy can be a crap shoot. Within a few minutes drive of West Point, there are a handful of dubious rooms in old motels. To find a national chain such as Hampton Inn or Fairfield Inn, you have to go 30-45 minutes away from post. North from Highland Falls, Storm King mountain is a driver’s nightmare in the dark, rain or snow. You won’t want to spend the precious few hours you have with you cadet on A Day driving back and forth. That’s why I feel the Holiday Inn Express in Fort Montgomery is a decent compromise. It’s less than 15 min from Thayer Gate, and as part of IHG, you can expect a certain level of quality. The hard furnishings in the hotel are slightly dated, but in no way shabby. Carpets, tile and bedding are fresh. The lobby and breakfast areas are more updated than the rooms. The pillow-to-bed ratio was fantastic: 2 soft & 2 firm for each of our 2 queen beds. Check out the white-on-white embroidery on the pillowcases to tell them apart. Breakfast was pretty good for this class of hotel. The scrambled eggs were better than the usual powdered eggs—the hostess told me they are fresh eggs, cooked and packaged then reheated at the hotel. The One Minute Pancake machine is pretty clever, and is a nice break from make-your-own waffles. There are washing machines and dryers onsite. With my cadet entering her senior year, I wish I had been able to book this hotel before now for its location, but it sells out quickly for major events and football weekends. When visiting your cadet, do your research well in advance, find out when the booking window opens, and make your reservations fast.…
