Geneva by the Lake is the Fawlty Towers of the Finger Lakes region. My daughter and I stopped there in August, 2018. Amongst the ridiculous things we found:

• We arrived a few hours before dinner. We could not get a table at the hotel’s restaurant. We asked for a recommendat

I was looking to take my daughter, niece, and sister (all from out of town) to a nice, special place for dinner after visiting some of the local wineries. Since one of my guests has severe Celiac disease, I called ahead of time to be certain that they would have a nice GF menu f

Response from GOTL2, Manager at Geneva on the Lake
Responded Nov. 2, 2018
Thank you for giving us feedback about your experience. We apologize for our shortcomings during your phone call to us. We have many items on our dining room menu that are gluten free. We work very hard to accommodate many different food allergies. We are always mindful when developing our menu. We want each of our guests to have a memorable dining experience. Again please accept our apology. We encourage you to give us another try so we can correct the mishap. Sincerely, William Schickel General Manager

The pictures are beautiful on the internet. The exterior and grounds are truly stunning but the interior is not old and charming, but rather worn out and the room would be nicer if I stayed at a Red Roof Inn. The furniture, bathrooms and rugs probably haven’t been changed since

The Inn is lovely and the breakfast makes it all worthwhile. We had the duplex in the townhouse part of the Inn. While it was nice to have the space, the bedrooms are up a steep flight of stairs and neither bedroom has a TV. The bathroom is very tight. The toilet is right

Beautiful area for a wedding venue but the town was “shut down” a mere ghost town. Nearly impossible to find somewhere to eat. None of the main attractions/restaurants were open. It would probably be interesting before Labor Day

I only wish I read the reviews going back to 2005, I can’t believe people complained about how old and worn out the place is and it’s now oct 2018 and not a thing has changed. As long as they can rip off the tourist they will keep doing that.
The entire resort could use an update. The decor is outdated and in some cases just needs to be replaced. Our room had a kitchenette, the oven was out of service and the fridge was so old the entire one side was rusty. These are things that you just don't expect from a resort at this price point. The grounds are truly what makes this resort.

"I would choose the rooms that are not duplex in the townhouses unless you need 2 bedrooms."
"any floor above the first has a lot of steps...no elevator"
"Upper floors in the main building"
"We did not stay here, we just ate lunch here"
"We prefer the main hotel, rather than the townhouses for the views of Seneca Lake, however, I have not seen all of the townhouses, though."
