The Four Seasons Resort Seychelles at Desroches Island is celebrated for its exceptional service, with a staff that's both attentive and eager to personalize guest experiences. Many guests are enchanted by the resort's ample amenities and the tranquil atmosphere set by the spacious, well-appointed villas with private pools and direct beach access. While the resort's cleanliness garners high praise, its secluded and picturesque location is often deemed a highlight. However, some travelers find the resort to be expensive, though others believe the unique offerings provide good value.

Our stay at the Four Seasons Desroches was a truly unforgettable experience, one of the last paradises in the world. If you are looking for peace and seclusion, you will be in seventh heaven here. The peaceful and relaxed atmosphere makes you forget all the stress and worries of everyday life.

It often felt like we had the entire island and its beautiful beaches to ourselves. Each beach has its own special charm and exudes an incomparable magic. The fauna and flora are unique - from palm-lined, white sandy beaches that you only know from postcards to a wide variety of exotic plants that you can explore with the island's nature guide.

We stayed in Sunset Beach Villa number 6, with two adults and three children. This villa was simply magnificent - a private beach, a beautiful pool and a great room layout that was more than enough for five people. The housekeeping team did a fantastic job every morning and evening, the room was always spotless and a little surprise awaited us every afternoon.

The hotel staff anticipate your every wish. Special activities such as a cocktail course or a surfing course were organized for our son. His personal highlight was playing football on the runway with the locals - an unforgettable experience.

The island's three restaurants - Claudine, Delly and Leuchtturm - are culinary gems. Every evening you can expect an exquisite selection of fish, meat and vegetarian dishes that enchant all the senses. The theme evenings were always a highlight and highly recommended. A special experience was our special dinner on the beach, where we were able to enjoy the sunset in a magical, romantic atmosphere.

Exploring the island by bike and discovering the different beaches was an adventure in itself. Every time we discovered a new beach, we were overwhelmed by the beauty of the white sandy beaches. It's hard to believe that such an idyllic place really exists. We can especially recommend this hotel to families - there is everything a child's heart desires here. The whole island is a huge playground, whether it's looking for turtles, watching fish in the crystal clear water or the loving care in the kids club, where new, exciting activities are offered every day.

The hotel is also a dream destination for couples - more romantic and secluded than many other places we have visited. Our stay was a "once in a lifetime" experience that everyone should have at least once. Under the outstanding management of Four Seasons, this trip is worth every penny.

Sustainability is a top priority on this island. No plastic, water in glass bottles and perfect cleanliness characterize the picture. Everyone here lives in harmony with nature.

We can't wait to return and repeat this unique vacation.

Four Seasons Desroches was no less than a beautiful dream. Right from the start to the end the staff at the resort made sure that we have the best of the experiences. We loved how beautiful and thoughtfully made was our ocean pool villa, with breathtaking views of the ocean, gorgeous pool and comfortable bed and bath.
Cycling around the property was fun, we especially enjoyed visiting the tortoise sanctuary and the sights of the shearwater birds at night.
The staff at all the three restaurants were very very friendly and welcoming. Special thanks to Florence at the Deli, Abram at the Claudine and there was this lovely young lady with a cat eyeliner, sorry missed her name, who took such good care of us at the lighthouse.
The only improvement that I would suggest is to add more variety to your food menu, there were not many options to choose from for lunch and dinner , it would be great if few Indian recipes could also be served.
Special mention to the beaches around the property, even the far off ones are so neatly maintained by the four seasons, we loved visiting the aquarium beach, clean blue waters, secluded yet safe. We had stingrays swimming around us.
All in all, we had an amazing time , thank you so much for the great hospitality, we will look forward to visiting many more four seasons properties around the world!

I was fortunate enough to have 11 days at the Four Seasons Resort on Desroches. Quite simply, this is the best holiday I have ever had. The resort really does give the cast-away on desert island vibe. It is extraordinarily beautiful. Peace, quiet and seclusion are the order of the day. The layout of the resort is really low density, the flip side of that is you will using a bicycle to get around. A buggy service is also available, but not nearly as much fun as bicycling.

The beach front villa I stayed in was huge and the ability to walk straight out and into the Indian Ocean was wonderful. The housekeeping staff kept the villa spotless and were delightfully cheery, chatty and helpful in making sure that I was kept supplied with water. While there is an admiral effort to reduce single use plastic, like many hotels FS Desroches uses Nespresso type pods for coffee. I know that most people like these things, but I don’t. That may just be me. I’d prefer fresh grounds and a cafetière (french press).

Overall the food at the resort was very good, I pre booked the half board option so I wasn’t concerned about the price. I think this was a very good idea and would recommend it. While the a la carte dining was excellent in all three restaurants. I think that there was too much reliance on buffet / set menu theme nights in the main restaurant (Claudine). There were were 4 in total, my view that’s 2 too many. While the price of drinks was very high, I knew this going in (prices are published on the FS website) and I budgeted accordingly. The only real complaint I have, that can’t be explained by my oddities, is that 1 or 2 members of the restaurant service staff didn’t quite meet the very high standard of their coworkers. Not bad service, just not up to FS standards that were demonstrated everywhere else (even the gardeners stopped to wave hello as I went past on my bicycle).

Overall, I really enjoyed my time on Desroches. It is a magical place to rest, relax and get away from the pressure of modern life (the internet connection is basic so no opportunity to stream or work). Highlight for me were meeting the tortoises and laying in the hammock at night looking up at the stars with the sound of the ocean.

I love very much this island, a simple island, 5km long, with its numerous desert sand beaches. Desroches island is 240km West of Mahé island, you can access it by plane, a 40’ flight from Mahé. 4S is the only hotel on the island, located at its extreme west end. If you are looking to disconnect yourself from the hectic world, to relax and enjoy slow life, this is a place to go.
My villa, a sunset beach suite, is very spacious, well equipped, in a rustic chic style. There is a small pool and a pool cabana in the garden, very pleasant. Nothing to say about it, except for the WiFi which is really really slow. May be it is a way to force you to disconnect for a while ?
I did not go to the main pool because I prefer to go the beaches. There are several ones, the nicest IMHO being « Madame Zabre » and « Aquarium ». But what is missing is a beach (with beach service) within the hotel ground. So every time I wanted to go to the beach, I had to ride bicycle or to wait for a complementary shuttle operated by the hotel.
There are 3 restaurants in the resort, the nicest in term of location being « The Lighthouse » - it has a magnificent 360 degrees view of the island and ocean - but it has the least good cuisine among the 3, as for us.
I have also enjoyed numerous activities provided by the hotel, spa, kayaking, turtle watching,… Unfortunately I was not able to do snorkeling since I wear myopia glasses but the hotel do not have snorkeling masks with corrective lenses (at FS Maldives Landaa Giraavaru they have them, which misled me into thinking it is the case also here).
Final word on the staff, very friendly, very attentive. They did really succeed to make me feel at home.

The hotel is not bad, but it is not the Four Seasons, we were at the Four Seasons in St. Petersburg and Moscow and expected the same thrill from this hotel, but the reality was not very good!!!!! They make mistakes at every step, but thank God there is a girl Masha here who immediately corrected the mistakes of others!!!!! If everyone here worked like Masha, the hotel would be at its best!!!!!! Thank you Huge, Huge, Huge Masha!!!!!! Don't lose employees like this!!!!!! Of course, there are also advantages here, this is room cleaning - the first hotel (and we often travel to different countries) where you can’t complain about the cleaning, girls are Smart!!!!!! And I also want to thank several people for their hospitality, smiles and knowledge of their work, these are Imran, Florence, Melody, Eriny!!!! Guys Thank you very much!!!!!!!!

We spent 8 nights on Desroches and only wish we could have stayed longer. While we heard other guests complain about the weak Wi-Fi, we found that to be part of what made our stay so special. It is a place where you can really disconnect and enjoy all of the natural beauty the island has to offer. It is not a place to go if you plan to spend your days working remotely or tied to the internet.

Each of the beaches offered a different vibe and we enjoyed biking around and spending time at all of them (sunset at North Point, paddling boarding at Madame, relaxing and surfing at Aquarium). Given how remote the island is, we were impressed with how well it is maintained. Most of the buildings seemed to have been recently updated or restored while maintaining a luxuriously relaxed vibe. The facilities (beach huts, fitness center, restrooms) are kept in good condition and were regularly cleaned and restocked throughout the day. All of the staff were very friendly and made an effort to personalize their service once they got to know our preferences (favorite drinks, off menu food items etc).

I was able to learn to surf with the Tropic Surf team which was a highlight of our stay. I highly recommend them to any beginners looking to try it out!

We look forward to hopefully returning in March / April when there are more opportunities for my husband to go diving (August is not the best time of year for this) .

We travelled as a family of four (my husband and I, and our 2 sons- 5 yo and 10 yo).
Honestly, the island is magical. If you expect to be pampered and drink cocktails while on the beach, this is not the place. This is the perfect place for an adventurous holjday, where you can cycle around the island through tropical forests where you ll see turtles wandering around free, and visit all the beaches, which are quite secluded. You ll get to feel and hear the ocean without the average resort noise around.
Keep in mind that at the beach, you have to cater yourself, having been put at disposal cold water and clean towels.
The staff is very hardworking, I appreciate all their effort and I truly saw their dedication to make us feel good. Starting with Annie, with her warm welcome, Eric - best of the best, my kids loved him, and Tai Pai( sorry if I didn t get it right) from Claudine Restaurant, the amazing lebanese Chef whose dishes were delicious, the cleaning team which were really hardworking and humble, I really appreciate you all and you ll all remain in our minds and hearts until next time! Our short stay was magical and we will definitely come back to this amazing place!

This place just beats Bawah Island as our favourite private island getaway. We love the relaxed pace of the island, the BEAUTIFUL beaches and sea-life (to be explored either privately or with help of the staffs) and the mixture of nature and amenities.

Each of the marked area of the beach that are serviced by the hotel has sports equipment, towels, waters, toilets, showers and radio to contact the staffs. These spots are monitored by staffs periodically to ensure safety and comfort. So even though the places seem remote, they are actually very safe. But obviously, risky behaviours are not encouraged.

Our room was functional,, spacious and beautiful. The staffs were helpful, friendly and genuinely interested in making our holiday a success. Shout out to the F&B teams at Claudine: Prakash, Abraam, Melody who welcomed us most mornings and nights. And thank you again for the Rambutans to our room (just because they noticed we love it so much!). Special mention to the front desk staffs who helped my husband with his phone who decided to take a dive in the ocean!

Our suggestion is to explore the island with provided bikes. We love the North Point as it was secluded but full of marine life. We spotted turtles, manta ray, sharks and crabs just by walking on the beach. Aquarium beach is perfect for SUP with its crystal clear turquoise water. It is truly as beautiful as the brochures.

Another suggestion is to get a half board. I notice most reviews here unfairly complained about the expense. Half board is your strategy! We had it and loved everything the team had to offer. First, structure wise, there's always a theme night every two days so we are not forced to eat ala-carte two days in a row. Also, if one is fed up with generous buffet, the Indian night was actually a set menu, a thoughtful presentation of how Indian cuisine is often served (on a tray with little bowls). The food itself was delicious and thoughtfully prepared.

On a slightly negative side, breakfast felt a bit dull after day 5 or 6 just because it was the same and Lighthouse was a bit neither here nor there: it is advertised as grill restaurant but it was more fine dining. Still worth going to soak up the ambiance.

This place is truly special.

My wife and I had a great stay on the island for 7 nights. As Americans it was quite the haul to get there but once we arrived we forgot all about it and had a very memorable honeymoon.

Rooms
We hadn't stayed at a Four Seasons before but the room and resort in general were as nice as expected. We stayed in a Sunset Villa and there was plenty of space. Having both indoor and outdoor showers was nice, as was the mosquito net (although in general there weren't that many bugs). We made good use of the outdoor lounging areas and hammock, and watched the sunset from the loft a few times although it's not quite a direct view. During June the beaches right outside the villa aren't the nice ones, but it didn't matter as we either used the pool or biked to one of the many other nice beaches.

Resort
The standout feature to us were the bikes and the ability to explore the entire island. It's pretty big, but also very accessible with well maintained paths. We loved biking out to beaches like Aquarium and being the only people in sight. It was low season so there weren't many guests but we were told even in high season a lot of the beaches are pretty empty. The fact they had showers, water, towels, chairs, and beach equipment at basically all the beaches was amazing - you pretty much only needed to bring some sunscreen and you were set. Seeing and feeding the giant tortoises was a highlight. The resort had a good variety of dining options - we loved the steaks at the lighthouse, and it was nice that they offer different cuisines at Claudine on a few of the nights (while we were there there was a seafood night, an Indian night, and a Creole night and all were excellent).

Other
The one downside was the arrival and departure times. We were told there was only 1 flight a day to the island, so we had to plan our flights to arrive accordingly. It would've been fine, but we later found out on the day we were leaving there were 4 flights that left at all different times. It would've been nice to know about other options, to plan connecting flights and/or a day in Mahe. Similarly on the way in, we arrived at 8am and had to wait until the 12:45pm flight even though there was a flight at 10:30am. It was disappointing they didn't notify us of other options.

This island is a haven of peace.
The beaches are wild and magnificent. The seabed also has turtles 10m from the shore…
It’s a place to rest, disconnect the cell phone and let yourself be alive.
So yes there are algae but it’s called nature. The beaches are cleaned in front of the villas.

The beach in front of the swimming pool is not in good condition but we were warned before arrival and this does not bother anything because the island is large and there are many beaches.
It’s a Robinson experience but a luxury version.

The catering is very good but you have to tell yourself that you are on a lost island.
The pastries are not good on the other hand and some fruit juices are not fresh.

The Indian meal was not good.

The lighthouse restaurant and Japanese restaurant are excellent!!

BE CAREFUL OF THE PRICES: everything is extremely expensive!!!
I have never seen such high prices in a hotel.
A cocktail can cost you 30-40 euros.
First lunch meal 700 euros for two without any extravagance just main course dessert and glasses of wine… even the activities are very expensive. So luxury has to be paid for, but you have to plan for it in advance. All inclusive is obligatory. Taxes are not included and neither is the service, 25% must be added to all prices displayed which are already enormous.

The service is very high level but too present sometimes even the managers come almost every meal to ask how things are going and are always on the backs of their servers. give your servers some space...

Dear Karine, Tropical greetings to you from Petite Anse! Thank you for your question below and to answer you, yes September is a great time to visit the island. The weather is lovely, by that time the southeaster wind would've come to an end and our average temperature is about 27 degrees. We look forward to having the opportunity to welcome you to our little piece of paradise! Best wishes, Ashley Front Desk Manager.

I do this a lot when I travel, I would buy small cans about 24, pop them into your suitcase, never had a problem and the internal flight you have 30kgs luggage allowance. Enjoy, just returned and it was amazing.

Was there in October 2021, it was recommended but never enforced. The only place we had to wear mask was when you help yourself at the breakfast buffet (as it was inside).
