This campground far exceeded my expectations for a place to sleep while attending a concert at SPAC. The sites were wooded, the campground was clean and not rowdy at all. There are flush toilets, showers and even a beautiful pool to enjoy. The coach bus service to the

I have been camping for 40 years and this campground has about the nicest sites that I have ever camped at. They are very large and spaced right so you are not close to the other campers. It is a quiet, peaceful campground with very clean showers, restrooms, recreation room

We camped here for two nights. Our site was nice with woods behind us and tall pine trees around us. The site we had was larger than others we have had in campgrounds. There is a swing set and that's about it for kids. As we didn't have kids with us, it didn't matter to us.

Thank you so much for this nice review. People that leave our park as Happy Campers make our day!

Let me start by saying the sites were very nice and roomy. But they need someone else to run the place. It has a lot of potential. . They were not friendly and were rude. They had only one building with showers with only 4 shower stalls. Luckily there weren't a lot of campers

Thank you for your review. We look at each review as a learning tool to help us improve things that we may not have been aware of previously. We also look at them as a chance to educate customers who do not know the entire story on why things are the way they are. Let me try to explain a few things to you... 1) Our firewood price is based on what we pay wholesale from our supplier. Because of our remote location, many firewood suppliers will not travel to our park as it is out of the way of major routes. The wood we offer comes from a local sawmill and is a quality product. He recently raised his wholesale price by 88% per bag. We have priced it at the minimum amount so as not to gouge our customers. We make very little profit on firewood. 2) We have suspended our activities program this year due to the renovations of our office and recreation hall. These renovations will include a remodeled climate controlled activity center and a full-service kitchen. If you had asked one of the staff about why there were no activities, they would have informed you of this and your comment about us needing a bigger activity hall would have been unnecessary as we are already doing that. 3) The "little ice cream store" you refer to is a new snack bar. We have not yet obtained the proper permits for operation as we have had difficulties in trying to staff it. When we can find reliable staffing, it will be opened. 4) Our handicapped ramp to the shower house was approved in 2008 by our local building inspector and it complies with all ADA standards & requirements. If you had trouble accessing it, you should have alerted staff so that they could have helped you. The excessive rains we have had this spring/summer has made the ground soft and difficult to tread. A simple message to the office would have fixed the issue. We have been in business for over 20 years, so it is obvious that we are doing something right. We are not a perfect park, but we make improvements every year. Customers that take the time to get to know us appreciate our efforts. We suggest that you ask questions and communicate your concerns before posting a negative review that could potentially damage a business and its good name.

Couples weekend to see Dave Matthews. Check in was concerning. One couple was on there way and 9pm was cut off for check in. They said no one can check in after 9pm. Everyone needed a wristband to be on grounds. Gentleman who checked us in was definitely not a people person. Not

Thank you for taking the time to submit a review. Good or bad, each review is a chance for us to learn and improve. We do apologize if the gentleman that assisted you was not as personable as you would have liked him to be. After working a 12-14 hour day, anyone of us can be less than pleasant. Again, we are sorry that you had to experience that. We have been hosting Dave Matthew fans for 20 years and the security measures we have put in place has served us and our customers very well. The reasons that we (and most campgrounds) do not allow check-ins later than 9:00 PM are twofold... 1) First, it is out of common courtesy to our other campers. Setting up a campsite after 9:00 PM can be very disruptive to the people on adjacent sites who are sleeping or may have children that are asleep. Because our quiet hours begin at 10:00 PM, we have a cut off time of 9:00 PM for check-in. This is common practice among many campgrounds. Our check-in hours are 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM. That is more than ample enough time to register and set up camp. 2) Secondly, our staff put in very long hours on concert weekends, typically working 12 - 14 hour days in the office with two 15 minute breaks and 1 hour for meals. Some have to travel 30-40 minutes to get home after their shift ends. In short, they need to sleep too. Again, campers have an 11 hour window to check in and we feel that is plenty of time. We are definitely a "rule driven campground" and it is the trademark of our business. An appreciable percentage of our campers that weekend were return customers who appreciate the safeguards we have in place. We hope that clears up any misconceptions you may have had. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts.

Hello and thank you for your kind comment. Please forgive the lateness of our response. We were out of state for a while and are just catching up with things. It's nice to hear from experienced campers who understand some of the issues a campground owner has to deal with each season. As most of us know, bad or unfavorable reviews are typically posted by people who were in violation of our rules and had to be spoken to. Even so, we still take every bad review into consideration and look at them as an opportunity to learn. Many people have valid points and if we do not take the time to listen, we fail to progress. The secret to the longevity of any business is to learn, grow and change with the customer's needs. Sometimes, our eyes are opened to things we may not have been previously aware of, so in the end, we all win. Again, thank you for taking the time to express your thoughts and we look forward to you visiting our park soon.
