It's almost impossible to properly summarise the experience I had in The Gambia. But I shall try. I went to The Gunjur Project to continue with a Photography Project I had been planning, as well as to generally volunteer around the Gunjur area. Despite our flight being delayed we arrived and were met by Sainey and Omar, who drove us...

We stayed at Gunjur Project Lodge for a week in March. Jenny and Brendan are a super couple who have made a real difference to the local community with their marvellous work. The staff were all lovely; nothing was too much trouble and they were all so friendly and helpful. Food was excellent especially the porridge! There is a good...

After reading previous reviewers comments about Gunjur Project Lodge we decided to take the plunge and how happy we are that we did. The Lodge is an Eco Lodge and the accommodation is basic, however, it was clean and well serviced every day. The food was great with plenty of choice and a couple of times I asked for something...

We got to experience the real Africa and see how the local families live. We also got to see many of the wonderful things Africa has to offer and above all we had...

We had an absolutely amazing time. Before the trip Jenny was great at communicating with us ensuring that the trip was completely tailor made for...

Recently visited the Lodge during the 'troubles' in Gambia. This would not deter me from going back and certainly not a reflection of the project. Staff kept us informed of the changes and kept us calm throughout. Wonderful communcation skills from both British and Gambian staff. Couldn't fault it. Rooms clean. Staff friendly - after 2 days they knew everyone's...

Thanks Amy - even during unsure times in Gambia we managed to have quite a lot of fun. All of us at the project really enjoyed the dancing in the bantabar at night and not to mention the group workout in the bantabar! Look forward to meeting you again at Gunjur Project. Thanks for the feedback.

We felt welcome from the moment we arrived at the project. We were able to get involved in lots of different actives including going to the markets, helping with a compound make-over and at a women's garden and we also had special bands and dance groups come in the evening times.. (the list goes on and on) however if you...
