We were looking for a real safari, with game walks and nite drives, right in the bush. Boy, did we pick the right place! Our chalet was overlooking the Luangwa River, where hippos bathed and made wonderful sounds to lull us to sleep. The service was excellent, with a bite to eat at 6:00 am, before the first drive/walk (2...

Brilliant camp with only 3 rooms facing the river. The food here was probably among the best we have ever tasted in a bush camp and I highly recommend the chef's passion fruit soufflé - just delicious and perfectly cooked. Nothing was too much trouble and overall a very well run place.

We decided to splurge on a bushcamp and Mfuwe for my family's first African adventure. I have been on many safaris (including some luxury) and was still blown away by Chamilandu's service, location, and incredible attention to detail/design. The bushcamp is truly unique- far from the roving vehicles of other camps and an entire staff focused on making sure the...

Chamilandu Bushcamp was our second of the Bushcamp Company's camps to stay at. It was set up differently than Bilimungwe, but we loved it just as much. The three camp lodges all face the Luangwe River and you can sit and watch the hippos, crocs, elephants, warthogs and giraffes either from a distance or sometimes up close. You might even...

The rooms are jaw dropping. Great food, great service. They treated us to a ridiculously romantic candlelit dinner in our room for our anniversary. Yes, you should go. Bushcamps vehicles are the most comfortable we saw. Walking safaris are great. They are very focused on safety and really look out for you.

No disappointments returning to this paradise! Chamilandu is still my favorite camp in Africa! It was wonderful seeing the welcoming smiles of Gilbert, Mulenga, George and Doc, and the breathtaking view of the river from our chalet. I still stand by everything I wrote in July 2012. We had wonderful sightings of buffalo, zebra, puku, impala, hyena and leopard, and...

My second visit to the South Luangwa with the Bushcamp Company. You cannot go wrong with any of their camps, however Chamilandu is very intimate with only 3 chalets and considering the remoteness of its location they do an amazing job. We stayed for 5 nights and would have been happy to stay for a month! Game viewing is brilliant,...

My first trip to South Luangwa National Park and staying at one of the Bush Camp Co's camps. Chamilandu is right on the banks of the Luangwa River so it's a fantastic location. This is 5 Star accommodation, meals and service in the great outdoors of Zambia. Wildlife viewing is excellent right from the smallest creature like the Elephant Shrew...

Probably the most romantic of the camps we visited this year. Simple, intimate, beautifully presented. We arrived under starlight and woke to find one of the most breathtaking views. The sun rises over the hills which are the other side of the river. The river which is only 5 metres from your room. There is no wall to inbit your...

This is the meaning of the word Chamilandu, and it's very appropriate. It's beautifully located alongside the Luangwa river with the frontless rooms looking out over the river (and the animals and birds there). The team, led by Georgie, who I hope finds a way to continue her role in Zambia, are wonderful, with excellent service and cuisine. The stir...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
There’s nothing quite like waking up at The Bushcamp Company's Chamilandu. Early morning views don’t get much better – the rippling waters of the Luangwa River, the gentle rise of the Chindeni Hills and a vast African sky especially when you’re lying in a four poster bed in a stilted tree-house. Camp can accommodate up to six guests in three raised tree-houses and offers guided walking safaris, plus day and night game drives (open from June to November). ... more   less
