We stayed at the oheka castle since we were supposed to stay at another hotel which was overbooked so they sent us for a complimentary night. The property was beautiful and could see why people would choose it for a wedding destination. However, the guest rooms were very small and outdated. Our room had very little light and was painted...

My husband and I went to Oheka to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We stayed there overnight, as well, as, dined at the restaurant on grounds. I won't say it isn't expensive to stay there but it was a lovely experience. The staff is SO cordial, helpful and accommodating (if you ask for Daniel you will not be disappointed), and...

Well, we are kind of baffled …. I saw this castle on a TV show and was interested when I saw it on groupon. Therefore we decided to stay there for 2 nights. The room was fairly big with old furnishing but lacked the wow-factor I was hoping for. The wallpaper was peeling in some places, and the windows could...

We did not stay at the castle overnight or attend any event..... We stopped by for after-dinner drinks. It was snowing (in MARCH) and the flurries made the drive especially magical. Valet was available and we were ushered into the castle and up to the bar area. It is a beautiful property from the limited areas we saw. The drinks...

My grandson was visiting from Florida and wanted to see a REAL castle. Oheka is very impressive. We walked around the grounds and public rooms and saw the picture of the original owner who looks like Mr. Monopoly. We then went to the restaurant for lunch. The Charle Chaplin Room was fun and the foods was delicious. Our eight year...

We bought a Groupon for an overnight stay in a Chateau room with free continental breakfast and tour. When you pull up to the castle it is breathtaking. When we arrived it was early evening and there were candles/fireplaces lit around the castle. It was very romantic. Our room was very quaint. The room was spotless. The bedding so plush...

We really enjoyed our weekend getaway on Long Island. What a fabulous escape! This castle was a fairytale deeply embedded in history, and so lovingly restored. We especially loved the castle tour, so very interesting, and we enjoyed walking around the beautiful grounds. We stayed in the Whitney Room and it was lovely. The staff was dedicated to pleasing us....

Oheka Castle is a hotel located in a former Gold Coast mansion. The property was bought in 1984 in a state of decay and disrepair and restored to its former grandeur and elegance. The Hotel is beautiful and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The restaurant has an extensive menu, and everything we had was excellent. If you want a...

This is the 2nd largest house in the US a little over 100,000 square feet. Beautiful castle with a lot of class and original ornaments. Also, restaurant served delicious and reasonable food by NY standards. Furthermore some rooms have different themes especially the Charlie Chaplin room. Finally, beautiful courtyards and beautiful entrance.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
OHEKA CASTLE is a majestic historic mansion located on Long Island's famed Gold Coast between New York City and The Hamptons. This French-style chateau is the second largest private residence in America and has undergone $30 million in restoration to transform this stately home back to its former 1920's grandeur. OHEKA is listed on the National Register for Historic Places and boasts 32 luxuriously appointed guestrooms and suites on the upper floors where guests can sleep like royalty. Guests can enjoy a leisurely stroll around the beautiful formal gardens designed by the Olmsted Brothers, take a mansion tour and learn about the rich history of OHEKA and Otto Kahn, or dine in the OHEKA Bar and Restaurant before retiring to your uniquely designed guestroom for an in-room massage. Breathtakingly beautiful, OHEKA CASTLE is admired around the world as a premier venue for exquisite weddings and gala celebrations and has been the backdrop to many prominent film and photo productions. The refined European atmosphere and the feeling of being transported back in time to the decadence of the Roaring Twenties consistently gives OHEKA the recognition as America's Grandest Castle. ... more   less
