My boyfriend and I had been planning a small trip for some time. We chose LG and then the HJ bc the price was fair, and for a 2star spot the furnishings are all modern as opposed to some of the other out-dated stays in LG. Plus our intial booking for a cabin fell through. It wasn't terrible there. But wasn't great either. First, the manager checked us into the room. We get there and it was a double instead of a queen. We were fine with it bc we just chose to use the other bed as a catch all for our luggage. The room smelled very clean with product. Next, we went for ice and the machine was unplugged and not in service. This turned out to be the only machine for the whole building. Fortunately, there was mini mart next door to purchase some. Then later that day we had noticed we had neighbors check-in right next door and as we were entering our room we could see the female chopping her lines to snort. They were a couple of middle aged bikers and a female up all night drunk making loads of noise. Mind you there is a bike bar directly behind the hotel. The last let down was their touted "rise and shine" complimentary breakfast was simply coffee. Not even some fresh fruit. JUST COFFEE. will we stay at HJ again? possibly, just not the one in LG.…
My first problem was the keys they gave me did not unlock the door. The cleaning person was nice enough to use the master key to let us in. Then we had to go back to the lobby for them to activate the keys. The hotel room was very clean but small. The room seems to be slanted. The issues I have--no tissues, no clock (except on microwave, that I had to set), no coffeemaker (in the lobby, which I was never told), no telephone. The ice and soda machine are only located on one side of the building. If you are just looking for a place to stay the room is good. Pool was nice and clean. No information was given at check in as to the coffee being available in the lobby we happen to see other guests with the coffee, Also no paper giving you the channels for the TV. Hopefully this helps.
Great location within walking distance to the gift shops, restaurants and attractions. It was clean, ac worked, and the price was reasonable. You can clearly see there has been updates which look nice, modern flooring, fresh paint, and new countertops in the bathroom. Things that could be approved upon, don’t let the customer go to a room that hadn’t been fully cleaned yet. The bathrooms renovation was skimped on and you can tell. And please take the outside garbage out more frequently, it makes it look bad.
Absolutely nothing to do in Lake George unless you have a boat. There is an arcade for the kids but that is only good for a couple of hours. Good for an overnight getaway but within one day you would of seen everything. All motels are dated because they want to keep the 70's look and feel. We planned a 3 day getaway and after one night we cancelled our other two nights at the hotel and left. Really just a lake for the locals to go boating.
