We did not stay at this hotel, but we ate here three times, on the terrace overlooking the water. The manager is wonderful, the staff is great and the food is really good. We are vegetarian and appreciated the salads and the asparagus dish. We pre-ordered the taboule for the final dinner and it was delicious. The only problem was that they added tuna to it, although this was not an ingredient listed on the menu. The also have nice beers and wine, although the beer pricing was a bit high we thought.

After a few nights at camps in the desert and mountains, the facilities at Le Golfe are certainly welcome. That said, it's still really basic and ordinarily would merit a bad review. No soap or shampoo provided in the bathroom for example. Wi-Fi unreliable. Food and drinks are horribly overpriced. How about a dish of ice cream for $10? Or a bottle of beer for $8.60? When the tide is in, the beach is lovely. When the tide goes out, you see a very unattractive sea floor. Perhaps that best characterizes Le Golfe.... it can seem nice but not consistently.
We ended up in that place in February 2018 and it was pretty quiet. Nice food very close to la plage des sables blancs . If you go there a 4x4 is needed as you won't be able to reach it ( you have been warned !). Basically nothing much to do in that area but was part of our little day out visiting lac assal , l ile du diable , le goubet etc .. A nice day out from Djibouti
