We had intended to visit Quiver Tree Forest and Giants Playground en route back to SA whilst having an overnight stop in the area. After reading the good advice of fellow Tripadvisor reviewers, we decided to stay at Mesosaurus Fossil camp instead. It proved to be excellent advice. We did stop in at Quiver Tree lodge and saw the quiver...

Thank you very much. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay at Mesosaurus camp.

We stayed 1 night at the bush camp which is a short 3km drive away from the main building in a really peaceful secluded spot among hundreds of quiver trees. We were the only ones staying out there and had the place to ourselves which was fabulous. You can spend hours there wandering around the trees and rocks. The owner...

We took a chance and drove 40 km off the paved highway in hopes of seeing the mesosaur fossils. When we arrived, the owner, Giel, immediately took us to the fossil bed where his 10 year old son discovered the first fossil 25 years ago. Giel is incredibly knowledgeable about the fossils, the geological history of the region, the current...

We stopped here for 1 night on our way from Klein-Aus Vista to Mata Mata. We were welcomed by Hendrik (the son) and settled in to our chalet. It is pretty basic but fits the setting and was comfy. Not much to do here during the hot spell of the day but at 16h30 we met with Giel and went...

Giel, our guide was the perfect namibian gentlemen showing us his rare finds of mesosaurus fossils. The tour is short but very informative. In addition to the fossils, the area boast rare dolomite stone formations and a big forrest of quiver trees. And do not miss out on the special music performance at the very end!

We arrived after office hours (9:00-16:00) and the only trouble of our stay was finding somebody to check us in to our chalet. It would be handy to know this beforehand, but it wasn't a big deal. The owner's son found us on site and was very friendly. We stayed in a self-catering chalet priced at 600 ZAR for 1...

We intended camping at Mesosaurus but since we were wary after the long drive, we upgraded to the chalet. It was small and comfortable with a shaded outside area and braai. The views are incredible and the silence is priceless. The hosts are very friendly and helpful and Giel, who says he is the oldest fossil in the area, does...

We didn't stay here but spent a couple of hours on a fossil tour and admiring quiver trees. The fossil tour was really interesting, the trees so cool and the views amazing. We did it as a part of our Southern Swing tour organised in Windhoek.

We loved Mesosaurus. We initially were planning on camping for one night but upgraded to a cottage. When we got there, we met Oom Giel, who enthusiastically told us to follow him in our vehicle to the Quiver trees, dolomite rocks and fossils. The guided tour was awesome, the sunset landscape immediately thereafter was incredibly humbling. What a magical place...
