    The Loj and cabins at the Adirondack Mountain Club's Heart Lake property continues to be the quintessential Adirondack experience. It is (and for around 100 years has been) the best "base camp" for any adventure into the High Peaks, in any season.

    Dogs should be allowed as long as you are not staying in the lodge itself. Yet, as Ken T. suggests, i would confirm directly with ADK club which maintains the lodges.
