Excellent, peaceful and accessible to out door activities. The peacefulness of the Loj was rejuvenating and allowed for long needed relaxation. I experienced a flow of thoughts that was also long needed, which inspired me to write.

The Heart Lake campground and ADK Loj is our favorite spring getaway for my family and friends. We have been coming here for a dozen years. The surrounding mountains are our playground and Heart Lake itself is a jewel.

It is not within walking distance of Main Street. I believe its site says 8 miles from Lake Placid and it a goodly drive off the main road into the property (which of course makes it very private)

Dogs should be allowed as long as you are not staying in the lodge itself. Yet, as Ken T. suggests, i would confirm directly with ADK club which maintains the lodges.
