This historic inn has a lot of charm. Yes, it is rough around the edges, but the owners get the important things right - very friendly service; new and comfortable bed; and, a clean room. The rooms are bare bones, but is more like being in your bedroom than a hotel room. The rooms have air conditioners installed in the...

Its not a chain branded property but a friendly and warm family run lodging. Our room with 2 queen beds was very large and comfortable. Only a 5 minute walk to all the action. Location excellent, staff very good and pricing is good. Place has a restaurant, a large nicely laid out lounge that looks like your living room to...

This is a great choice if you're looking for an inexpensive, clean, simple, no frills hotel that's within walking distance to downtown Lake Placid. There's no breakfast, you have to walk up steps (no elevator), and there's only free wifi in main lobby. Our beds were a tad hard and the rain hitting the window ac unit kept us up...

Yes, the building is old. But it's being lovingly restored by the family owners, who bend over backward to be accommodating and friendly. Our room was on the second floor, was beautifully restored, quiet and comfortable. Luggage came up in a service elevator. We stayed 5 days and loved the atmosphere. All for a price that was fair and easy...

Loved this place! It's full of local flavor, far from the standard photo-copied hotel model. The building is clearly fairly old--squeaky stairs, no public elevator, etc. But it was clean and very charming, and the public areas in particular were elegant and comfortable. Furnishings were simple but nice. My fiancee and I agreed that the mattress was one of the...

What a great place! We just wanted a clean, affordable, centrally located place in Lake Placid that could serve as our "base" when hiking a high peak. The Pines Inn exceeded our expectations. We booked through Expedia, and paid just $70/night which is cheap for Lake Placid. The place is super quaint, with antiques and pretty floral wallpaper and nice...

This old hotel has passed its prime but it still serves as a clean and decent place to stay. Set back from the street on Saranac Ave it is in a quiet spot but still within easy walking distance of Main Street. Parking is in front of the hotel. Don't be fooled by the slight shabbiness of the stairs up...

We are locals and stayed at The Pines for a date night. The owners are so kind and generous, and their Inn is a reflection of their beauty. The rooms and property in general have a B&B feel. We recommend this for anyone looking for no-nonsense lodging in LP. Would happily stay again!

This is a charming place to stay. The rooms were clean, bright and nice but simply furnished. The rates were very reasonable for the area and close enough to everything that we walked. The heat can be a bit wonky and a friend who has stayed before suggested cracking a window open instead of trying to adjust the heat if...

This four story brick edifice with the huge porch has seen better days, I'm sure. I remember when it was the St. Moritz. Even back then it was not a high end property. The building is interesting with a walk-up stairway to your room if you are not on the first floor. I had a very brief stay and can't...
