We stayed here during a hockey tournament in Lake Placid and we stayed here as everywhere else was already booked. Where do I start? Some positives are that the lady at the desk when we first arrived was pleasant, it was close to the Olympic Center and the room was relatively clean. The negatives were plenty. Extremely outdated. Like 70's tv show outdated. The shower would go from ice cold to (literally jumping out of the shower) scalding hot to ice cold, etc. Thin blanket had holes in it. Curtains were broken. The extra (pull over) metal lock on the door was easily opened from the outside by my 11 year old and was hanging off by screws. The fire alarm went off 5 times one day from 4 am to 7 am. The "continental breakfast" was juice and a few dry cereal options. Our toilet kept getting clogged where they said we were the problem and left the plunger in our bathroom. There were never any clean towels in the pool area unless we called the front desk. The room key cards kept deactivating. I really would not recommend this hotel.…
It's certainly not the most luxurious place in Lake Placid, but the Rodeway Inn is a lovely hotel which exceeded my expectations. The room was clean and modern and came with all the expected accouterments (fridge, coffee machine, new TV, etc.)...except a microwave. That was slightly inconvenient, but if I needed something nuked I went to the lobby. Another slight quirk was that the complimentary breakfast menu varies depending on the day of the week. On weekdays breakfast is served in the lobby (where there is 1 small table and 3 chairs) and consisted of coffee, tea, toast, English muffins, apples and honey buns. On weekends breakfast was served in a large room in the main building and included three different kinds of cereal, pancakes, bananas, and orange juice. No complaints. The facility had a laundry room, and indoor pool and meeting areas and still has a Bible in the nightstand. I liked this place and my whole family said they would prefer the Rodeway even if we had the opportunity to stay somewhere else. P.S. front desk worker Cece was particularly amiable and helpful.…
Stayed here at the last minute when I got snowed in at Lake Placid. The facility is older. My room was very clean and comfortable. Bed was fine. There is a pool, but I was not prepared to use it. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Got a good price especially for a last minute booking, in winter at Lake Placid. I would stay again.
Check in was quick and efficient. Room is in need of some updates, especially for the price. Bed was not very comfortable and bedding is in need of replacement. Shower head is good if you’re under 5 ft tall. Would definitely not recommend or stay again.
Check-in time is 3 PM, but many rooms were not available yet. At least we were allowed to do the check-in paperwork and staff maintained a list of cell phone numbers so they could call us when our room was available. Not having received a call yet by 4:30, I went into the office again and was told that they called me 20 minutes earlier and left a message. My phone was on the entire time. I checked my phone's call history and there had been no calls. Apparently they were not careful and misdialed. The room appeared to be clean, the best was comfortable, the heating and cooling worked well, the WiFi was very good, and the towels and facecloths were the softest compared to my previous 12 nights in various hotels/motels/B&Bs. Sleeping was not easy due to apparently paper-thin walls while guests in a neighboring room talking until at least 3 AM. The breakfast was a typical continental breakfast but also included a pancake maker; however, the pancakes were rubbery. I cannot rate this place better than average because the ability to sleep is the most important criterion.…
