We were driving through this area after enjoying the Eric Canal boat tour in Herkimer. Using Trip Advisor as our guide we stopped to inquire about a room at the Canal Side Inn. Fortunately for us the owner/chef was there and we caught him just as he was heading out to enjoy his day off...they are closed on Mondays! So...

excellent room accommodations for our weekend visit. plenty of room. efficiency if we were to cook any meals. comfortable bed. conveniently located to places we visited in town- although little falls is not a metropolis:):). clean and quaint building with a great restaurant downstairs. only drawback was the 29 steps to the third floor on narrow hallway- but minor compared...

Peddling on the Erie Canalway we needed a place to stay and Little Falls was just across the river from the trail. We peddled across the bridge (safe for peddlers) and found the Inn. The proprietor was also the Executive Chef and came out to meet us while cooking for dinner. They have a safe place to store bikes and...

People have told me this place was "so good". We went there for dinner with another couple. The decor is 1968 suburban finished basement, mold smell included. Wait staff seemed amateurish and un skilled for a "white-cloth" restaurant. I sent my drink back 2 times due to lack of knowledge on the bar tenders part, before I ordered a glass...

when you are greeted by friendly staff and brought to your room in this 1870 building you feel transformed to a french hotel far away. The room was tastefully done (just a little dusting could have been done) and heated by a gas pot belly stove, very romantic! when we went back down to eat was pleasantly greeted and treated...

I always love lobster dinners and their lobster, lobster, lobster dinner is fantastic. 3 courses of lobster is a lobster lovers dream. My husband and I went with another couple and we all had the dinner and were very satisfied. Clean restaurant, good food and friendly staff.

The main function of the Canal Side Inn is a very good French Restaurant and Bar, with reasonable prices, Food and service prepared with Love and served with Joy. We were there for the Inn. There are only 3 suites in the Inn which are located above the resturant, they are accessed by a side door with some steep stairs...

We've stopped here before. Good stop just off the NYS thruway. The food is remarkably good but the atmosphere in the main dining room is dark and almost depressing. What an opportunity to spruce things up. The duck was excellent as was the Caesars salad. Good wine list but by the glass needs improvement.

We stayed in the 2 large suites (B and D) over Easter weekend. The 2nd floor Suite (B) is actually the nicer of the 2. It is 2 full rooms with hardwood floors plus a extremely large bathroom. The 3rd floor suite has carpeting, a full size fridge and stove (would have been more useful if had more cooking and...

We were staying at the Overlook Mansion and the assistant innkeeper, Joseph recommended the Canal Side Inn for dinner as he said his girlfriend was a server there. After getting seated it took a while to get our order in , but the food was excellent. I had the New York Strip and it was perfect. The amazing thing to...

“It's a very safe and mostly quiet town - near the railroad tracks, but it actually becomes a soothing sound. Locals are friendly and there is a nice cafe next door, Ann Street Cafe, for a superb breakfast and lunch selection - with seating inside our out. Country breakfast included there with your stay at the Canal Side Inn.”
