I join the other reviewers. We felt in Seneca Lakeside Bed & Breakfast like home - in the best meaning, of course. The house, which BTW was built by Barry – the owner of the house - is a beautiful, modern place right on the bank of Seneca lake. The location is convenient for visiting vineries, attractions in Geneva and Watkins Glen. The breakfast was tasty and we enjoyed conversation with Barry and Zeta during the meal.
For sightseeing I recommend Watkins Glen State park with beautiful canyon, Corning museum of glass and time permitting – Sonnenberg estate and gardens in Canandaigua and Rose Hill Mansion in Geneva.
From the wineries we like Kings Garden just there in Lodi, Leidenfrost – on the same side of the lake and Fulkerson on the other side.
Enjoj.

After driving down a tree-lined dirt road, you come upon the most perfect place to stay in the Finger Lakes--The Seneca Lakeside B & B. It is a beautiful home, perched 40 feet above the lake, with lots of windows and water features at the front entrance. The O’Neil home is immaculate and our bed was comfy. Across the hall was a private bath, where you can store all your personal toiletry items. No other homes are visible from their property. There is a huge deck on the second floor overlooking the lake. Behind the home is a grassy yard with lawn furniture for napping or curling up with a favorite book. There are steps leading down to the private dock, where one can take out their kayaks. The dock is a great place to have cocktails and view a gorgeous sunset.

Barry and Sena are perfect hosts. Barry loves to converse with his guests and is a wealth of information on just about everything. Sena is a great cook and is warm and accommodating.

From what we gathered, touring during the week is a more relaxing atmosphere at the Finger Lakes, no crowds and few cars on the roads. Restaurants in the area open only on certain days, as do the wineries and microbreweries. Two good, near-by restaurants are the Stonecat and Dana’s. Wineries close mostly at 5:00 pm so plan accordingly. If you want more excitement, like listening to loud rock bands and mingling in crowds go on the weekends.

There are great hiking opportunities if you want to get away from all the wine-tasting. Hiking the gorge at Watkins Glen and Taughannock Falls is highly recommended and a short ride from the Seneca Lakeside. For a change of pace, visit Cornel University in Ithaca at the tip of Cayuga Lake. On the way, stop at Kelly’s for lunch to dine on their deck over looking the water and watch kayaks floating along. Thereafter visit Cornel’s Plantation herb gardens and arboretum. If it is before 5:00 PM, go to the 5th floor of the Art Museum for a fantastic view of Ithaca and Cayuga Lake. If you have another day to spend at Ithaca, stroll through the Commons and catch a bite to eat after viewing Ithaca Falls and then take a short drive to Butternut Falls, just south of Ithaca where you can go swimming in a natural pool filled by the falls. Another side trip worth taking is traveling westward over to Keuka Lake, where you will find beautiful countryside and charming quaint towns. BTW, the view atop of Bully Hill Winery is gorgeous.

Zena and Barry could not be more kind, thoughtful hosts at their lovely lakeside home. From the moment I inquired about the stay, the response was warm, and professional. Zena is a great cook and hostess, with scrumptious breakfasts, catering to individual dietary needs and tastes. She also constantly reminded me to let her take care of things when I tried to help clear the dishes. "This is Your vacation." She and Barry also had a ton of great ideas on restaurants, places to go, things to see, wineries, bike routes, etc. They know just about everybody in the region. Barry is a wealth of knowledge about everything from crops to politics. As this was our first time to the area, it was great to be able to learn from them.

The place is secluded down a 1 mile dirt road- would definitely recommend arriving in the daylight. The rooms have a great view and are decorated in a country style. Attractive, pleasant, not luxurious. The private bathrooms, while modern and large, were not en suite. The one upstairs room has no other rooms nearby, but the two downstairs rooms were adjacent, so one needs to wear a robe to go from bedroom to bathroom. The towels were plush, and the shower was very nice.

We especially enjoyed borrowing the kayaks and hanging out on the dock.

We will plan on returning again!

Off the main road but worth the short drive as you will experience wonderful water views. A beautiful home and the property is well kept with great flower gardens and water feature. Nice walking area and lots of steps down to the lake. I cannot say enough good things about the owners Barry and Zeta. Zeta makes a great breakfast each morning with help from Barry. Barry is also a good story teller and has lots of local information for you. Located in the middle of vineyards and wineries, you will find many things to do. Wine tasting and nice restaurants are near by. Views from the back deck are wonderful as well as great sunsets. The home is decorated with so many charming collectibles that you will want to spend some time exploring and make time for games or cards in the large common room. The beds were comfy and the bathrooms were spotless. Loved the cleanliness of the whole place. This is somewhere I definitely want to return to.

We just returned from two delightful days here. The home is beautiful, the lakeside setting is serene and peaceful. View is just amazing. As to our hosts, Barry and Zita, we felt as if we were visiting old friends. They are so sociable. The breakfasts were very good and tastefully prepared. I would go back next time we are in that area. Bravo!!

This was one of our stops along our trip throughout New York.

The location is amazing. The house is so private and so tucked away off of the main road. I would love to go back there during the warmer months in better weather because we didn't get to really use the lake or lakeside at all. But it was gorgeous.

The hosts are great and made an enormous, delicious breakfast for us in the morning. They told us to take our time leaving and they forced us to take muffins on the way to our next stop.

The only negative I could see for some people is that the rooms are kind of dated looking. We were able to choose our room, thankfully, because the all pink room would have been a little too much for me.

We've been going to Finger Lakes with friends for the past 10 years, and for the past three have stayed at the Seneca Lakeside B&B. We look forward to this trip every year thanks to our very special hosts, Barry and Zeta, who make us feel like we are coming home to visit family, rather than just staying in a B&B.

The beautiful, tranquil setting takes a backseat only to Zeta's breakfasts! The B&B is spacious, beautifully appointed, and has every amenity a traveller could ever want.

We look forward to many more years of our October long weekend in the Finger Lakes at the Seneca Lakeside B&B!

What a lovely experience! My boyfriend and I reserved a room for the weekend while attending a friend's wedding. Barry and Zena were very warm and made us feel right at home. We had access to their beautiful lake giving us such majestic views that gave us lasting memories. Also, Zena's breakfasts were out of this world.

As for the future, we hope to make the trip again.

This is truly one of the nicest B&B's we have ever stayed at. While the location is a bit off the beaten path it is one of the reasons it is so remarkable. A lovely home and such gracious hosts. Enjoyed visiting with Barry and Zena at breakfast and at the end of the day. Loved our room on the second floor. Would have liked a TV in the room to make it perfect. Breakfasts were so good and thoughtfully prepared! Restaurant choices in the area are slim pickings. Would definitely return.

If you are new to the B&B experience or favor them over any other type of lodging than definitely stay at Seneca Lakeside. Innkeepers Barry and Zeta are very warm and welcoming and Zeta cooks up a fabulous and filling breakfast and homemade baked goods every morning! The house is down a dirt road and if you're not looking closely you may miss the sign but the house is very close to the water on a quiet, peaceful property with a big deck to sit and take in the surroundings. All the rooms have amazing views of the water and on the lower level a common room with a big screen TV, board games, information about what to see and do in the area as well as a fridge full of complimentary bottled water.

We could have chatted with Barry and Zeta all day but of course didn't want to miss out on visiting a few of the best wineries in the Finger Lakes (which are very close to the B&B)! We will be back to visit as we had an amazing time!
