Great trip. We stayed in Yurt 1 (family of 4 - kids 12 and 14) and our friends stayed in Yurt 2 (family of 4 - kids 11 and 13). The hike up the hill is tough with coolers and supplies (little less than a mile, I believe) but well worth it. Yurt 1 is just a little further of a hike than 2. Great hiking, nice beach down the street, only about 10 minutes (once out of the woods and in your car) to a local supermarket and lots of fun rivers and waterfalls to explore and play in. Cooked over the fire every night and used propane stove (provided in the yurt with pans) to make breakfast each morning. Kids all had a blast "unplugging" (no internet) playing board games, hid and seek at night and just using their imaginations! Yurt 1 is closer to one of the waterfalls, so you can hear it all day and night. Which is very nice. However, you can see the owners cabin from this Yurt which makes you not feel as secluded as in Yurt 2. Also I think Yurt 1 has a better family setup inside the Yurt than Yurt 2. Yurt 2's big plus is that their is no one or structures around you as far as the eye can see, making it feel more secluded than Yurt 1.…
We brought 3 city friends here a few years ago and it was fantastic. One person had never been camping! The yurt may have spoiled him from anything else. The walk up is not bad at all and it is down hill on the way out. You don't have to bring much anyway because Falls Brook gives you everything you might need, except food and blankets. This is a wonderful place to stay and by far one of the most private places we have ever been to. Well worth it!
We wanted somewhere remote where we could bring our dogs and spend the weekend hiking. This place definitely fit the bill. Maybe it was because it rained the whole weekend (or just because it is a yurt half way up a mountain) but the place was really dirty. We would clean but it never felt clean. The owners were nice and I appreciated their pet friendly policies, but I wouldn't stay there again.
This place is magical. I found some history on these yurts and included some other info on this place. If you like the backcountry and want comfort, this is the place to visit.Hike in 2/3 mile to a unique, backcountry Falls Brook Yurt and hike to secluded ponds, waterfalls, atop Green Mountain and to a lunch lean to on Stony Pond.
