Good, clean facilities and large rooms. Everything is brand spanking new. A little on the expensive side but still affordable compared to other wellness resorts in the Berkshires. Service was disappointing. I was scheduled to check in on Saturday and I called the Wellness Center twice on Wednesday to schedule a spa treatment but no one answered the phone when I was transferred to the appointment desk. I even left them a message with my number. I received a call back on Saturday at 10 AM with the lady offering me a 1 PM slot the same day. Considering I wasn't going to reach the resort by then, I could not book a treatment. The other time offered was 12 PM the next day after check out, which was also inconvenient as I had to drive back. If I had the chance to speak to someone on Wednesday, I could have arrived earlier at the resort on Saturday to receive a treatment at 1 PM. Perhaps an online appointment system could avoid all this. Yoga classes were good (for an amateur like me) - Tish is a good instructor. Lunch and dinner were good - meals tasted homemade, which I guess is a good thing as long as you're not expecting gourmet restaurant quality. Breakfast was my favorite meal (although the "freshly squeezed juice" is not fresh - FYI). In short, it's good to have a resort like this within driving distance from Albany (and the city) but service issues need to be addressed.

While the massages were fantastic, we were incredibly disappointed. The food was terrible- by “fresh squeezed orange juice” they just gave us Tropicana and the entrees were like mushy TV dinners. We got locked out of our room multiple times because the lock needed “charged”. It was way understaffed and no one really knew where to you were supposed to go. They haven’t sent us a receipt despite multiple requests. It is an extremely pricey place- and just not at all worth it for the money.

I stayed at YO1 President's weekend February 2021. First and foremost, this is during the pandemic. I am going to attribute most of the shortcomings of the resort to the pandemic. This is important for you to know if you are planning to stay here during the pandemic and I'm not sure if they will address these issues during the pandemic or after. The Good: The property is gorgeous, lovely lake and forest setting You truly feel like you are in the country. The room I had was a King Suite. This room was extremely clean. It was spacious with a king bed in the bedroom with a window facing the beautiful lake. It had a large livingroom with a refrigerator and plenty of storage. It had a large balcony with two chairs overlooking the lake. It had a separate room for treatments, a massage bed was in that room. They are not doing treatments in the room during the pandemic but you still have access to that room in a suite. The bathroom had two sinks, a fully functional bidet, and a steam shower with a bench that was like a spa treatment in itself! The pool is clean and large with a nice hot tub adjacent to it. The staff at the front desk was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Michael is a gem at the front desk. The staff in the dining room was so friendly and helpful, I wish I could name everyone but certainly Jamica and Daisia and Robert were there to assist with every need. The Bad: The food...our package only included breakfast and I would recommend that you do not opt for the full food package and I will explain why. The breakfast was fine, basic eggs, omelettes, french toast. The lunch costs $35 per person and the dinner $45 per person. It is all vegetarian, which I enjoy, but the dishes were very simple, cheaply done and not at all worth the money. For example, the dinner is three courses for the $45. An example of dinner is butternut squash soup, a salad that consisted of just lettuce with four cherry tomatoes and a few shavings of pecorino romano, the entree spaghetti squash with tomato sauce and a berry dessert with some yogurt type sauce on it. I would gladly pay $45 for a quality vegetarian dinner but this was as if they opened a bag of salad and dumped it out. For dinner they give you four options for entrees which usually consist of some vegetables with a curry or a pasta or the squash. If you pay for the full food package, it's quite expensive and in my estimation really not worth it. Monticello is a ten minute drive and there are not too many food options there, but you can make it work and some restaurants in the area will also deliver to the resort. In my opinion the food needs a lot of work and not at all worth the money. The cafe is where you can get coffee, tea and snacks. I went in there at least five times over the weekend. Every time I asked for a cappucino (which is prominently displayed on the blackboard) or a decaf. I was told "they don't know how to make a cappucino" and several times they didn't know how to make a decaf coffee. These were different employees and very nice but they need to train their employees there. The snack options were popcorn, kale chips, banana bread and a few pieces of fruit and an energy bar. They really need to up their game in this cafe. YOGA! I am an advanced yoga practitioner for 15 years. The primary reason for coming to this resort was wellness, yoga classes. The yoga instructor I had at my yoga class first was wearing a mask, but did not cover her nose the entire class. She made everyone in the class uncomfortable as we are all wearing masks the entire time. This wasn't a "my mask just shifted" . She clearly had it down so her nose was exposed and I don't want to be at a wellness resort in a pandemic when the yoga instructor can't even respect the Covid requirements. I attended other classes and she was the only yoga teacher. The yoga was not anatomy based...I don't mind a basic class for everyone, but many of the poses she was using were harmful and not therapeutic. She said she liked to do "her own yoga". At a world class wellness resort at these prices, I want a yoga teacher who is experienced, safe and if not world class at least decent. I cannot say that about this experience. CONCLUSION Depending on the cost, it is a lovely resort. I would like to go back. I would love to see them work out these kinks. They cannot justify charging $800 a night or better for four yoga classes offered a day with a mediocre yoga instructor and horrific food choices. Apparently, when it's not the pandemic they do showcase cooking classes, wellness lectures and more classes. When these things are all running perhaps it is more worth the money. Also, being there in the winter you cannot use all the facilities outside which makes it more difficult. We did go snowshoeing around the lake, which was lovely.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! I wanted to take a nice relaxing spa getaway. With the price we paid to go we were expecting top line spa services and customer service, that is NOT what we got. First off, what kind of “spa” only offers 50 minute massages? That was the first red flag, but we went with it. Just to note a 50 minute standard massage is $212 dollars.... We went up to the spa area and we’re almost blinded by how bright the lights were (felt like I was in a hospital, not a relaxing “zen” spa). The lights are so bright in the hallways that it pierces through the massage rooms. When I asked for something to put over my eyes, they didn’t even have anything to give me. The spa was not relaxing at all and no one even knows what is going on in the place. The food was just ok... They only give you 3 options for lunch and dinner (no meat for any meals there). They try selling you a bottle of “Newman’s wine”, which is $7.99 online for $25 bucks. If you are going to consider yourself a high class place, I don’t think selling wine made by a salad dressing company is the way to go. They also made you pay for water bottles during your stay.. for the price we paid to go there they better start giving water and more for free!! They tell you to drink 8 bottles a day, yet they make you pay for it! Paint the walls so it doesn’t feel like you are in a hospital! Don’t waste your money!!!! The picture I posted was from the trash in the gym. We were there for 3 days and no one changed it. This place will be closing soon at the rate it’s going.

My friends and I wanted to do a quick getaway from NYC; 2-21/2 hours away is the beautiful YO1 Wellness Resort. Yes it is promoted as a holistic/vegetarian retreat but only myself out of a group of 4 are vegans we all still completely enjoyed YO1. You definitely don't have to do all the wellness activities to enjoy the resort. We did however do massages, mud therapies, free yoga and utilized the free mountain bikes to do a nature ride. If not vegetarian or even if you are but not vegan I would recommend doing the bed/breakfast package only (I myself did not enjoy all the vegan meals but breakfast was definitely amazing as it was not vegan/vegetarian). There are restaurants nearby you can drive to and there is a Walmart less than 10 mins drive away. The rooms are gorgeous and as pictured on their website and really big and spacious( we comfortably fit 4 persons in a room with more than enough space to maneuver and not be in each other way). The entire facility is clean, modern and nicely decorated with a sophisticated relaxing feel. The view from our room was tranquil and nice to enjoy the sunset and sunrise(no balconies). Best part for me was the massage and having my own private steam room located in the massage room that I can used as long as I wanted after my massage. If you are looking for a girls getaway, birthday getaway, couples getaway I would definitely recommend YO1.The service from everyone we encountered was courteous and professional. One staff that stands out(sorry cant recall he name) but she recently moved from NYC to Monticello few months ago, she definitely is the type of person you want working at your establishment and interacting with guests, her friendly, helpful personality radiates joy.
