Have stayed here frequently for business purposes. As of July 2020 the hotel recently underwent a renovation, so that is nice to see. Very standard Courtyard property with friendly and professional service.

I booked a stay in the hotel for 1 night. I arrived about 12am. Tired, I waited for 15 minutes for someone to arrive at the front desk. He would not have appeared without me entering the crappie store to the left of the desk. I figured it would get some attention and it did. 1 step in and he appeared. Got the keys to 229. It initially looked fine, then I looked at the shower wall which had an unknown substance. Then I tried to watch TV but I couldn't get it to work. I tried calling the front desk but it just rang. Finally I said F it, I am going to bed. I opened the bedside drawer and right next to the little red Bible there was a disgusting paper cup with either tobacco spit or water that was used to put out cigarettes. It was horrible. Both the smell and appearance. I hope this is NOT what they meant when I read the sign at the desk that said "Due to the covid-19 pandemic, there will be no room service". Again, no one answered at the front desk. It 3am and instead of getting a nice rest I am writing a nasty gram on trip advisor and forwarding to to Marriott hotels because they should be ashamed.

Dirty rooms, falling apart bed, stained carpet and smelly fridge. Bathroom is small, and the shower is old. The only positive thing are those giant TVs in the room. Will not stay here again. Next to the thruway, so super loud

Granted, The Thayer Hotel is the best location for attending West Point events, but the rooms are sold out years in advance for events such as graduation. When you're flying in, then the hotel selection becomes even more critical. I found that flying into Stewart airport really made it convenient to get to West Point easy compared to other airports such as JFK. My best experience was fly in/out of Stewart and stay at The Thayer...However, I had to look for a different lodging arrangement for the graduation and chose this hotel. Why? I was arriving late like 10pm so I wanted somewhere it was close to the airport. As the name implies, it is literally minutes from the airport. Getting to West Point from the hotel was also straightforward (about 30 minutes driving). As for the hotel itself, it's not the newer Courtyard design, but they were working on upgrading. My room was clean and quiet to let me have a peaceful sleep. Flying out was also very convenient. Just a few minutes drive to the airport to catch my flight. Your experience may vary if you're staying for a different reason. However, for my purpose it was the second best next to staying at The Thayer in terms of convenience (and I stress convenience here).

My family and I had a car emergency and had to stay over night in Newburgh. We requested a roll away and told when arriving it was not available. When we asked if there we any other options the front desk personnel abruptly told us nope, sorry. The beds were not comfortable and had two double beds in the room - no sleeper sofa, no roll away and said it would sleep 4 adults. That is a very big stretch. The front desk was not helpful and curt, offering no options. It doesnt take any extra money, etc to be polite and attempt to be accommodating. These folks didnt even try. They did make sure to emphasize three times that breakfast was NOT included. The prices ala Starbucks were outrageous. Family of 4 to eat very small entrees totalled over $50. No coffee, nor tea available in the lobby. Nothing. Really fell short of Marriott hospitality and standards. I only stay in Marriotts worldwide and I've had better stays and personnel interactions in West African countries. Really disappointing. So you definitely have other choices when staying in the airport vicinity, do your research and stay somewhere else.

Thank you for your feedback. I have spoke to the staff member in regards to your concerns. Unfortunately we do not have control over the Bistro of the Bistro and having coffee or tea to be complimentary, that is a Marriott standard.
