After reading the reviews we went early yesterday evening, finally placed the order for fish after being told no tuna available. Drinks came quickly but even with the restaurant half full the food did not in 45 min, looks like the number 1 listing has an adverse effect. Give it a miss.

The place is a tourist hotspot, but lost it's charmed just because of that. The food is decent to okay but the service is marginal. The waitress don't really listen or try to understand, they just tale the order and you should not be surprised if half of the dish is different from what you selected. It was not just...

Nicely decorated hotel with a rather small but comfortable room, a good working fan, a small bathroom. Everything was very clean! At the first floor there is a nice, fresh area with a large table (with good wifi connection). At the second floor a very cool outside lounge where no one can see you, and where you can sit at...

We had a lovely stay in Casa Café Mindelo in November 2015. The rooms are small but very charming, clean and with everything you need. The only thing is that it is a bit noisy in the mornings, if you have a room on this side of the building. The manager is very attentive and breakfast is delicious. We loved...

The room is nicely decorated and offers wide views. Toilet is small but was enough for me. Bed is large and comfortable (one of the best I've ever tried!). If you prefer to be isolated/quiet this might not be the best option. Casa Cafe Mindelo is suitable for clients who want to have all at one place: good ambiance, great...

We went there for a coffee and cake. The place is cosy but there were many flies around which personally I didn't quite like. Personnel was not very friendly. I went to see the cake choices and they were having one of the two cakes outside the fridge which I didn't personally like. It was not extremely hot but I...

We travelled as three friends to Cape Verde in November and our first port of call was Mindelo and the Casa Cafe Mindelo. It is an absolutely charming hotel with views out over the Atlantic and a gorgeous roof terrace. Breakfast was excellent and served in the cafe downstairs that also hosts live music in the evenings. Everything worked well,...

Nice location. Easy going, clean and just nice. Food: try the tuna. Tasty. If not leaving tomorrow I would stay longer and hang out. Live music adds on. Smile while listening due to the enthusiastic singers. Come along and enjoy. And enjoy companies of other tourists and local.

Central location was noisy but manageable for one night stay. The room we stay in was a bit small. Breakfast is good. The shower and toilet is tiny. Internet works in the communial places. Nice relaxing terrace upstairs. Owner help us with all that we asked for.

I was really needing a place like Casa Cafe Mindelo. I work in a lot of African countries and I am always traveling between them. It was my third time in Mindelo but my first with "new" Casa Cafe Mindelo. In fact this is the kind of place that we feel in home. The rooms are very nice, King size...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Casa Cafe Mindelo is a city touristic project in Mindelo, a town located in the bay of Porto Grande, one of the most beautiful bays in the world, on the island of Sao Vicente, Cape Verde. The house is situated on the coast road, surrounded by the historical area. Its 21 windows are overlooking the quiet ocean and the pulse of the streets ornamented with acacia trees and the bustle of people. The scenery is composed by markets, cars, saleswomen, churches, art studios, game corners, barber shops, fresh fish, tropical fruit, travelers, taverns and sailors where the memories of a time of "Sancent sab" extend on clear days. When the sun sets on Monte Cara, the housefalls asleep with the murmurs of the waves and the bohemian nightlife resonates far away in a warm voice, "It is sweet to die in the sea ..." ... more   less
