We have just returned from a 4 night trip to Makweti within the magnificent Welgevonden Game Reserve. Booking on line direct with Makweti was smooth and communication throughout was prompt and the travel arrangements to/from Jo'berg was very well organized. The resort was as per the pictures, delightful, charming, very clean and beautifully decorated. We were in Lodge 3 which...

Gary and Paula: We want you to know how much we enjoyed our days at Makweti Lodge. We can't stop talking about our time there. We travel a lot and we both agree that our time with you has been the best time ever. Even Mauritius was nice but we have nice resorts with white sand beaches and blue waters...

Just wanted to say thanks to Gary, Paula and the team for a yet another superb stay at Makweti. We were not sure our second visit would or could be better than our first but we were wrong, it was fab. We were so lucky to be in camp when a herd of elephants paid a visit, twice and four...

I Just need one word! Wow!!! What a perfect stay, the food, the game-drive, the room, all staff members, the message, the private room dinner, and the drums when we arrived back from the game drive. We recently spent four nights at the Makweti Safari Lodge and had an amazing time. The setting is spectacular and the care taken to furnish this lodge is evident in every detail. It is a luxurious yet low key setting. Each game drive was unique and enhanced by Test, our very knowledgeable guide. We saw nearly all the Big Five...

What a great location for a lodge. From the main gate where you must park your car it is beautiful 30 minute drive in a open jeep to the lodge. The bungalows (there are only 6!) are all small hide-aways with all privacy! The bungalows are full of very nice details. But, the bed is to short for tall men...

We spent 3 nights at Makweti and would have liked to stay longer. The game watching was excellent - we saw 4 of the Big 5. Highlights were the elephants. So many different animals had babies. All guides are excellent - Ellard is engaging and knowledgeable and Gary, too. A highlight was our bush walk with Test. He is amazing...

We just completed 5 days with our family. It is a most amazing place located in a private game preserve in a beautiful, natural site. Accommodations are superb, food is outstanding and the service is wonderful. Our guide, Test, was so knowledgeable not only about the animals, but also about the other flora and fauna, especially plants and birds. We...
