We stayed for 3 days at this excellent family run hotel. The hotel setting is beautiful and the location is within easy driving distance of Sarlat, Lascoux II and Racamadour. Rooms were clean and comfortable, south facing have the best view, ground floor south facing have private patio. There are several excellent restaurants (including gourmet) in the area. Ask hotel staff for recommendations. WiFi available and parking is free- this hidden gem is busy so book ahead.
PS: you can pick ripe figs from several trees on the property but I advise moderation!!

We enjoyed six nights in this delightful rural setting, while visiting the major sights of the Perigord Noir just a few minutes drive away.
Celine and Ludovic strive tirelessly to look after their guests. And it works. We were very happy here. Hospitality and attention to detail are uppermost, and being a very large group we tested their resolve with early breakfasts and a busy terrace bar each evening. Rooms are varying categories, but each category is well equipped and they have an airy and comfortable country-hotel feel. Breakfast can be enjoyed on the terrace with splendid rural views towards Domme perched on the hilltop. The heated pool is a secluded haven, ideal after a day of sightseeing.
Celine arranged dinner each evening in the nearby auberge, Tasty, traditional Dordogne cooking in a great atmosphere.
We were thrilled to discover this gem of a hotel, and have made an immediate reservation to return.

The owners manned the Reception desk and ran the hotel. They were very welcoming on our arrival and were always polite and friendly during our stay. The on-line website shows rooms at the front which is what we were expecting. Instead, we had booked one of the cheaper rooms at the back which had no view but was perfetly adequate. We even saw red squirrels and deer from our bedroom. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice and the swimming pool was a welcome attraction after a hard day touring the Dordogne. Clearly, this is not a five-star hotel but if you want a quiet and relatively inexpensive stay, this is a good choice.

If you want to just have a bed for a night, this is your hotel. You will have to accept that the corridors are dark and unfriendly, that the so called renovation was some years ago and partial, and the smell of the kitchen/bar goes all over the place. The hotel looks and smells like a two star, which it probably is.
I have not seen any air conditioning in my room.
The breakfast is accordingly, small things, synthetic juice.
The people at the reception /bar/ kitchen are for sure not the owners - they don't love the hotel, they just try to make money out of the tourists.
The common room is "plastic chairs and tables", and there is a bar. If you want to get drunk to forget that you arrived in this hotel you can easily do that.

Response from lalud, Directeur proprietaire at Hotel Le Clos Roussillon

Dear IrLi, We are quite disappointed with your comment and to notice you didn't enjoy your stay at our hotel, but we'll try to give some explanations and to correct some of your assumptions. You have booking for 4 night and you leave after the first night without explanation, in accordance with our condition of booking we have charge two nights, maybe it's a motivation for your bad critique. First we are the owners of the Hotel and also the persons at the reception/bar. We try to manage our hotel in a friendly manner, to maintain a good athmophere and are more than happy to see people coming back, not only looking to make money out of it as you argued.and all the feedback are all positif, we have 8.9/10 on booking.com on 36 reviews. You are totally right when you suppose we are a two-star hotel and i'm sure that our hotel is a very good two stars, we have three star logis de france and we are on the red guide michelin, but we are surprised to note that it was unclear to you as neither our rates nor our website are misleading on this point. Of course, we expect our clients to judge us, taking into account our ranking and our rates, to give a correct picture of the value for the money of our hotel. Regarding, the smell, we understand it as potentially a stay at the studios flats floor, equiped with kitchens. We make all the efforts necessary to maintain satisfaction in the use of the kitchens but keeping smells at a low level in the corridors, and we'll do even more in the future to avoid such inconvenience. Regarding seats , we have only have iron forge chairs (exterior) and solid oak (interior). For breakfast, we use only orange juice 100% pure juice first quality but I think it's your bad faith, which is unlimited. Regarding the air conditioning, on 31 rooms, 26 are air-conditioned and you did not book a room with the air conditioning. Thanks for your comments. Regards.

We stayed for 2 nights in August. Hotel is on the outskirts of Vitrac (10 min walk) and is set on a hill. The hotel staff were friendly and spoke English. The reception is open during the day but not in the night. Our room looked out onto a hill bank. The room looked very tired and in need of decorating. The red bed sheets were old and worn, the mattress was hard and low down. The bathroom was modern, a new shower which was good. The hair dryer did not work. Breakfast was €9 each and in my view very expensive. No hot meal just tea/coffee, cereal and patisserie. Overall the 2 nights cost €200 inc city tax. If we had known what we did we would probably have gone without the breakfast or even stayed there

Celine and Ludovic were warmly welcoming, and went out of their way to accommodate the needs of our large group. The hotel is small, with facilities to match, but they were happy to extend the breakfast time so that we could enjoy a meal in two sittings.
The rooms are clean, and well appointed, some with views over the garden, but the best had amazing views over the surrounding countryside and across the Dordogne valley to the hilltop town of Domme.
Situated well away from any traffic noise, we slept well here for a week while exploring the Perigord countryside.

We stayed at the hotel during our August trip to France. Very nice hotel to stay while visiting a few places - Domme, Les Jardins de Marqueyssac, La Roque-Gageac. Too bad we couldn't go swimming, but the pool looked very good! The room was neat and nice!

We may have misread the information but we were expecting river views. There weren't any but the views across the (trees) river were beautiful, as far as Gomme on the distant hilltop.

Nicely set back up a long drive it is set well back from the road. It is a chalet style hotel in look and fairly modern. The rooms are ample and clean and have wifi.

The staff were welcoming and friendly. The pool was covered but we wouldn't have been using it so didn't ask if we could.

Small negatives - You need transport to go anywhere, breakfast is a bit dear at 9 euros for continental style, the rooms aren't well inulsted and so are a bit noisy when everyone moves about along the corridor/upstairs etc

All in all a nice hotel, well positioned for several good places to walk/view and Sarlat for the heritage and food.

We loved our stay in the region. On top of the amazing Dordogne Valley landscapes, this hotel has its own contribution to this. The location is great, benefiting from pleasant surroundings and great views while maintaining a short distance to Sarlat.
Services and rooms offer great value for money. It seems a new refitting completed during the last months gives a modern touch and improves the experience. People already familiar with the hotel, happy or not with their stay, should give it a second try.

A lovely hotel but rooms a little dated. In the perfect position to visit tourist attractions in the region. A short drive to the nearby town for dinner etc.
Lovely pool but ridiculously low sun beds that everybody had trouble getting in and off!!!!
