My partner and I greatly enjoyed our recent stay at Tillinghast. It's a grand Victorian mansion with a sweeping wooden staircase taking you to the rooms upstairs. The Elizabeth room has modern touches like a gorgeous soaking tub that I'd been looking forward to, but the sumptuous bed was so comfy I sank into a deep sleep and didn't use it! There were tons of lovely unexpected touches, such as fully-stocked mini fridge with sparkling water, coffee drinks, and juice. A huge basket of snacks and treats was also available, as was a Keurig with a wide variety of coffee and tea flavors. Mike was a wonderful host, and gave us the grand tour of the house when we arrived. There's no brunch in the morning due to COVID, but instead we were treated to the most delicious cinnamon buns delivered to our door, still warm from the oven! We devoured these with the coffee and tea mentioned. It's a good location - not far from many of the Finger Lakes wineries, and a scenic drive from Geneva, where we went for dinner. I would definitely come back, and would probably stay an extra night so as to soak in that marvelous-looking tub!

Thank you so much for the amazing description of Tillinghast Manor! It was beautifully written. We are hoping that once everyone is comfortable and guidance lets us we will return to Brunch. Mike is thrilled that you enjoyed his baking efforts. We have adapted to COVID by providing all of the amenities that you described and a special morning treat delivered to your door. So sorry you didn't get to enjoy the tub. Elizabeth is are most romantic of rooms.

After our daughter got married, we needed a nice quiet getaway! This bed and brunch definitely fit the bill! It is located in a beautifully restored home and conveniently located close to some great wineries. Mike and Jean were wonderful hosts and the breakfast/brunch was wonderful! We had quiche, bacon, asparagus and crème brûléed yogurt the first morning and Mike’s wonderful ribs along with an egg roulade and fresh vegetables from their garden. Not your typical breakfast but everything was delicious and kept us going all day!
The rooms were very clean and comfortable with a very generous supply of drinks, snacks and chocolates available. No television in the room which was fine with me. I will say that the next time we stay here I will opt for a room with an en-suite bath. Our bathroom was across the hall and we were supplied with super comfy robes and slippers, but I’m glad there weren’t a lot of other guests staying there at the same time.
Overall we had a great stay and can’t wait to come back!

Wow what an awesome review and great information for others to read about the Manor. We only have one room with the bathroom across. the hall. It is a private bathroom. I often remind people that the bathroom for Cayuga is not an en-suite. All the other rooms have en-suite shower and Elizabeth has a clawfoot tub as well. I highly recommend checking them out on our website.

Jean and Mike have lovingly restored this beautiful Manor and choose to share it with a few fortunate guests. The period decor, coupled with modern conveniences, make this the perfect get-away. They suggested several restaurants, wineries, and even fed my new passion for viewing waterfalls by supplying many books about the local area. The brunches were spectacular. I could see Jean picking the veggies that ended up in our meal only moments later. These brunches were just as good or better than any fine dining restaurant. We will definitely be back. Next time, I’d like to stay in the suite where Teddy Roosevelt stayed when he was trying to convince the then owner to run for the NY State Assembly.

If you are visiting the Finger Lakes region to sample some of the outstanding wines in the area, look no farther than the Tillinghast Manor for your lodging. We recently stayed there for a 2 day visit and were very impressed. Tillinghast Manor is conveniently located in Ovid, between Seneca and Cayuga Lakes, making it easy to get to a large nunber of the wineries there. Additionally, they offer quite a few wine tasting coupons for many of the wineries. We easily saved over $150 in tasting fees during our stay there.

Mike and Jean were outstanding hosts and offered many great suggestions for winery visits and restaurants in the local area. Since the Manor is labeled a Bed and Brunch (B&B), the breakfast/brunches are substantial and delicious! You will not go away hungry from their beautifully decorated table. We stayed in the Seneca room, which had all the amenities of home - a fully stocked refrigerator (including Starbuck's iced coffees!), microwave with popcorn, a Keurig coffee machine (we requested decaf pods and those were available as well!), large and fluffy towels, and a very comfortable bed and pillows. There is ample, free, on-site parking

Mike and Jean seem to have thought of everything to make our stay there enjoyable and relaxing. We highly recommend Tillinghast Manor!

What a wonderful three night stay. Mike and Jean were so friendly and helpful, they even went out and obtained decaf tea for us. Many beverages were available in room to go along with Godiva chocolates, and the room itself was comfortable and quiet. Breakfasts/brunches were stellar, and multi-course. We were so full they sustained us until supper. We will return.

In today’s world, we all need pampering. Decaf tea was our way of making sure you were enjoying your morning. The Manor is over 6,000 sq ft so there is ample room to keep the noise of the world at bay. Our great joy is in knowing that you are satisfied when you push away from the brunch table. We create dishes that you wouldn’t have tome to make at home. Thank you for the marvelous review and we look forward to seeing you next year.

Amazing owners/hosts. We have never been treated better by anyone else. Very personable, knowledgeable, accommodating. Jean and Mike gave many helpful tips regarding hiking, dining, wine tasting. They noticed our breakfast preferences and cooked our favorite items for a "farewell breakfast".
Great location.
Beautiful historic mansion with clean, spacious rooms.Very comfortable bed- felt like sleeping on a cloud.
Efficient, quiet air conditioning.
Amazing breakfast/brunch.
Every morning we had a selection of savory and sweet food items- omelettes, fritatas, stratas, crepes, yogurt granola parfaits, fruit tarts, smoothies, enough to take smoothies as a healthy snack for our hikes and have some leftover sweet treats for later with tea.
We were also treated to a surprise fresh berries, cheese and even bottle of wine in the evening upon return from our hikes.
This place deserves "double stars".

We booked through Expedia and chose Tillinghast because it’s in the heart of the Finger Lakes region. What an excellent choice it proved to be. Mike and Jean are wonderful hosts, friendly, helpful and entertaining, with a fund of stories to keep guests amused. They also have a huge volume of useful knowledge, their recommendations all met expectations and Jean was kind enough to take us to an Amish auction, which offered an insight into a very different world.

As others have said, the breakfasts/brunches are excellent, tasty, imaginative and very, very filling - you may not need lunch.

The rooms are comfortable, soft drinks and water are available and there is a snack box in the hall. What more could you want? We especially enjoyed the rose tasting around the fire pit. It was a delightful end to a very relaxing three nights.

We just returned from a three night stay at Tillinghast Manor, and can't say enough good things to fully explain our complete delight with the experience. The property is beautiful, hosts Jean and Mike are beyond friendly and helpful, and the rooms are quite comfortable. On top of all that, the brunches we enjoyed during our visit were among the finest meals we have ever enjoyed. To call therm gourmet meals wouldn't begin to do them the service they deserve.
We look forward to another visit to the Finger Lakes region at some near point, and wouldn't consider staying anywhere but Tillinghast Manor.
Thanks Jean and Mike for a wonderful, memorable experience. We arrived as strangers but departed as friends. Looking forward to a future visit!

My boyfriend and I stayed at Tillinghast Manor for a week in July. Jean and Mike were friendly and accommodating, offering suggestions for activities, letting us store our bikes in their garage, and adjusting breakfast options to our liking. Our room was lovely and the entire house was immaculate.

I could write paragraphs about breakfast. Oh my goodness, it was so scrumptious! To be fair, it was more like brunch, since there was so much food I don't think we ate lunch at all the whole week. Each day, a mix of sweet and savory options were served. I am still dreaming about the ham and cheese pastry and I can't seem to make a parfait as delicious as theirs.

The location was perfect, about mid-point between many attractions. Walking distance to ice cream, pizza, historical buildings, and more.

I've stayed in 30+ B&B's in my travels, and this one exceeded them all. We highly recommend.

My husband and I have stayed in a lot of B&B’s and I have to say, Tillinghast was the best for so many reasons. Our host’s Jean and Mike were so friendly and thoughtful and gave many recommendations about where to go in the area, there was so much detail to make us feel comfortable and at home during our stay. Also, it was super convenient to be centrally located to so many places, Geneva, Seneca Falls, Watkins Glen, Ithaca and many wineries and breweries in between! Can’t wait to go back to the area and looking forward to staying at this beautiful house again!

Thank you so much for your kind words. We have just reopened and were concerned how guests would react to the changes we have made such as providing masks, hand sanitizers and gloves. Social distancing is contradictory to the "wine down" concierge BnB experience. It was wonderful to have you and your son stay with us. We look forward your return.
