Called to book 2 rooms for 2 nights over the 4th of July weekend which the owner Debbie confirmed availability and price, she was rushing me to make a decision, when I asked for a room confirmation which is standard practice in the hospitality industry, she said they don't do that, I replied "how do I know you are not going to up the price when I arrive?," (as mentioned in a previous review). Debbie explained that she has been in business for 40+ years, it's a small town and she wouldn't do that. I was scrabbling to find my credit card when she rudely asked "are you going to book the rooms or not?" Needless to say I booked the nearby Colonial Motel where the rooms are nicer and so is the customer service!
It was fine for what it was. Rooms were pretty tiny… Almost felt like we were in the Bates Motel. Luckily mother wasn’t around. Staff could not have been friendlier, directed us to lots of great local things to do.
Why 5 stars for a motel? Is the Moore's motel a 5 start lux hotel? Obviously not, but for a motel in the Catskills, it was a lovely place to spend the weekend. The price was great for a holiday weekend, we were up for a friend's wedding over Labor Day. We arrived after 9:00pm, and the owner checked us in, was very polite, and we were off to the tavern for a late dinner. Our room was very nice, bed was comfy, it was a crazy weather weekend where we needed AC and heat, both worked fine. The pool area is very nice, too chilly to swim, but we were able to relax by the pool and get some sun. If we find ourselves up this way again we would stay here for sure. Also walking distance to Pratsville Tavern which is a plus. Again, all we were looking for was a great price, good service, and a comfortable room, and we got all of that. Also a plus is there were multiple outlets by the bed so we could charge phones, tablets, etc. I have been in resorts that had just one, or even NO outlets near bed. That is a pet peeve of mine, and I was very happy when I had no issues.…
Its a surprisingly nice place in a truly rural location. Clean, well kept, quiet, comfortable bed. The guy who checked us in was a little gruff, but then he warmed up and suggested a place for dinner.
Encountered a booking issue on line during a very busy season. They worked with me for two hours until it was fixed. Saved me time and money! Excellent customer service. I would definitely recommend calling them directly as suggested. Very helpful.
