Detailed Reviews
Hotel's Favourite
I grew up in Saratoga Springs. I’ve always loved the area but finding an equally nice, decently priced, place to stay when going back on- or off-season can be challenging. The Spa City Motor Lodge is a fantastic place to stay and will be my go-to from now on.
The hotel itself is a casually cool little place. I love the look of the motor lodges that can be found all around the area and are as much a part of Saratoga as the race track and springs. But unlike those, Spa City is modern and convenient. Best of all is that the rooms open onto a lovely light-filled atrium where you can relax. It’s a great concept for a hotel, executed very well. The rooms are well appointed with a comfortable bed and bedding, desks, lounge areas, a tv, (working) wifi. I especially like the bathroom, where you’ll find nice bath products in full sized bottles that aren’t permanently affixed to the walls. What I’m trying to say is that this place gets the large and small things right.
I will say that sound seems to travel in the building. From inside our room, we were able to hear guests in the atrium a little more than I would consider "normal".
The location simply can’t be beat. It’s in the heart of downtown Saratoga, on Broadway, literally in the middle of this quant city and an abundance of really nice restaurants (breakfast spots, bakeries, hip dinner places, and anything else you could want). It’s a short walk to Congress Park, as picturesque as it possibly could be, and a wonderful place to sit or wander. (If you’ve never been, set your expectations high and you’ll still be very pleasantly surprised.) The location is amazing. You can walk or bike to the race track from here, or even ride a bike all the way to Saratoga’s exceptional state park, as I did while I was there.
Speaking of not getting into your car, the parking situation is one of the better surprises. Although there is a small lot in front of the hotel that quickly fills, there is virtually limitless parking in a multi-story garage hidden directly behind the hotel. Parking is totally free, for as long as you like, and without parking tickets or gates or any other annoyances. Park and leave your car, or leave and come back whenever you like. I can’t imagine how parking could be better.
If all of that weren’t enough, checking in and out was quick, simple, and as refreshingly casual and efficient as the rest of the stay. Staff were even able to help us with what could have been a potentially difficult situation. Somehow, due to an issue with the website, our reservation had been triple booked. But the staff were able to resolve the situation in just a few minutes with an absolute minimum amount of fuss. Based on other experiences I’ve had in my life, I’m aware that this could have been a real problem for us, but in this case it wasn’t even a hiccup.
Spa City Motor Lodge will be the first place I check on every visit to Saratoga in the future.

Hey r0breed, It’s wonderful to read that an expert of Saratoga Spring like yourself was so deeply moved by our property’s offerings! So much of what you’ve mentioned we work hard to perfect as we know items like our stellar location, exceptional hospitality, well-kept common spaces, and everything in-between drive value for our guests. And we agree with your sentiment on parking! Finding a place to situate cars can be a hassle in busy cities. Our team makes it a point to take that stressor off of guests’ shoulders to the best of our ability. We’ll be sure to share this detailed note with our broader team as we know your words will inspire their continued best. Wishing you well until we see you back in town!

The location of this motel is the appeal, walking distance to everything including the track that was maybe a 20 minute stroll. The rooms are very small but clean, bed was comfortable. They offer free coffee and water which was a nice amenity and there is a nice small deck you can enjoy for some fresh air. Parking was free which is always a plus. For nearly $500/night one usually expects shower pressure that doesn't feel like someone is slowly dripping water out of the shower head, it was as bad as i've experienced in a hotel at this cost. The other real issue is b/c its an old motel all the rooms face their indoor sitting area that used to be the pool and when guests come back at night, especially the rowdy ones coming from the bars on Caroline street its very very loud- you hear every voice, and the slamming of every door.
all in all it was a good experience, but certainly had a few things future guests should be aware of. If you want a great location this is the spot. If you want peace and quiet i'd look elsewhere.

Hello Neal, Thanks for your candid feedback! It sounds like perks like our free parking and unbeatable location served your time in Saratoga Springs well. We appreciate that our central locale sometimes brings with it an energy that can create the occasional issue with noise. If ever you’re feeling your neighbors are getting out of hand, please let us know. We’re happy to talk to those that join us to ensure everybody is being respectful. We hope that what you loved about our home draws you back for another visit. Wishing you well until that return comes to pass. Take care!

Have many many great times staying at the former
“ Downtowner “ now the — Bluebird Spa City Motor Lodge-
Updated many things and the staff will do anything to make the stay better.
Rooms are great.
I do not drink coffee so no issue for me there.
Remember you are in the “ middle of downtown Saratoga” and there is always, repeat always an event planned thus 1000’s of people all the time.
Spent 10 years there as the “ First Night on New Years Eve “ was/is always the best event to me
SIDEBAR:: until last year had never been to the racetrack
Voices from the center area , where there once was a pool , do carry.
I use a sound machine with white noise and have never been awoken by the noise.
Biggest complain very tiny waste baskets but guess a small complaint
One thing being only 65 is there are partial concrete floors which are cold but again small.
No one will bother you car if you park in the huge place behind the hotel , a city owned lot.
One thing about Saratoga , there is abundant parking all the time all over the town.
One concern for a non cell phone person is there are
“NO PHONES “ in the rooms. Great wi if service tho.
Was also at hotel in July to see Chicago concert so can attest good AC and good heat.
Again staff is great including Anne, Robert , Chelz and the awesome room cleaners.
PS. Do not think there are microwaves in the room. Could be wrong , but a kind room cleaner took my muffin downstairs, and used the “ staff kitchens “ microwave and had a great muffin from Putnam Market
Try Hattie’s and remember , you have to go to the state park for a bath spa , check out the slot machine casino ( won $550.00 in ten minutes and left ) and definitely visit Cafe Lena for a show.
Ok. That is it. Have fun. Michael. Torrington Conn USA

The hotel is a unique old motel that has been updated into a quaint little place to stay in downtown Saratoga Springs. However, they obviously think more of themselves than what they are worth. The room was $240 a night plus a $35 pet fee which we gladly pay to be able to bring our dog. However, for that price I expect coffee in the morning! There is no coffee in the room. Coffee is served in a common area. Apparently, their coffee machine was frozen and they couldn’t figure out how to get coffee. Very disappointing! We ended up going to Stewart’s gas station to get gas and coffee. Tip… they sell coffee by the box. How about getting a couple of coffee boxes there so you can serve coffee to your guests in your overpriced rooms!

Hey Seeberharris, We’re big on value, convenience, and welcoming vibes here at Spa City Motor Lodge. Our team is disappointed to know that some of that didn’t shine through during your visit. Our lobby area coffee is usually plentiful and delicious. So sorry we ran into an issue that limited supply during your visit. We’ll look to do better next time so that all in your travel party, including your furry friend, can enjoy a stay that’ll keep you coming back for more. Until your next visit, we wish you happy travels and welcome you to keep checking our website for the latest deals we have on offer. See you soon!

Stayed for 2 nights. The first night we arrived around 9:00pm and was looking forward to nice hot shower and a good nights sleep after a tiring journey. The shower had hair in it, the water pressure was non existent and tepid at best. The bed had no duvet - which I needed after the cold shower! Also, it was difficult to sleep because the rooms are close to each other and the doors were opening and closing till quite late and then again early in the morning.
I complained and the next morning I was told someone would deal with the problems. The next day, the duvet remained missing along with no hot water or water pressure. I was then informed that this is a regular problem they have when too many guests shower at the same time! I informed the admin that at over $600/night this was completely unacceptable.
Don’t let the high price fool you - it’s a motel through and through. On the bright side, the front desk staff are really friendly and try their best.

Hi Bosert, Thank you for checking in with us after your visit. We strive to make all guests that choose to make our Saratoga Springs fixture their home feel validated in doing so. It’s clear that we didn’t achieve that end during your stay which we apologize for. Our high season does bring a certain set of challenges. While we’re typically excellent at remedying these items, some snags like high guest volumes putting strains on resources can be difficult to shoulder. Know that we’ll be discussing your comments internally and will continue working towards long-term solutions that’ll guarantee outstanding stays no matter when guests choose to check in. We look forward to more fully impressing you when we see you in the future. All the best until then!

This hotel is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Saratoga Springs, within easy walking distance of numerous restaurants, shops, and the park. The room was comfortable and inner courtyard was convenient for meeting up with our friends who were also staying there. The hot and cold coffee on tap were a nice touch, but not to my personal liking. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The only downside was there was a festival in town while we were there, so the small parking lot was taken up by kiosks for the day.

The hotel is in a great location, that is the only positive of this review. The hotel is a remodel of an old hotel and they should think about closing until the remodel is 100% complete. The room I was in was hot and that was with the A/C running at "full blast". The courtyard was a sauna and had no air flow at all. The shower in my room only had one temperature and that was scolding. I had to take a shower in another room. I was given a key to another room to take a shower. You read that correctly. Before opening, the hotel needs to finish the remodel. There are no elevators to go to the second floor.

We're extremely disappointed to hear that your stay with us did not meet your expectations. Although certainly uncommon, we can completely understand your frustrations regarding the A/C and shower issues you experienced in your particular room. We do apologize for having missed the mark with you but we do hope you might give us another try in the near future, as we're sure we can deliver a great stay.

What a great motel! The location can’t be beat, it’s right in the center of Saratoga Springs. We parked the car and did not need to take it out again, everywhere we wanted to go was within walking distance. The rooms and common areas were impeccably clean and well appointed and the staff were all so friendly and professional. Despite being in the center of town, the hotel was very quiet and relaxing. The rooms are nicely appointed and comfortable. 24 hour coffee and tea in the common area, and refrigerators in the rooms make things very convenient, but one is literally steps away from many great coffee shops and breakfast places as well. We travel to Saratoga Springs frequently and will definitely be back. We have no complaints whatsoever but I would recommend requesting a room on the first floor for anyone who finds stairs difficult, and if you like to sit outside and enjoy looking out on the town with a cup of coffee, request a balcony room.

It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but inside is a cool treat. Location and parking are best features. I am looking to checking out sister properties. Price is very reasonable and included a $5 gift card to the coffee shop across the street.

The Location of Spa City in Saratoga is 2nd to None! It doesn't get much better, as you are right smack dab in the Heart of Downtown Saratoga Springs. Restaurants, Bars Comedy Club, Coffee Shop and Shopping all right outside the doors. But what we Love the Most about it is the Staff from the Front Desk when you walk in that make you feel so welcome to the Housekeeping staff that are so pleasant and greet you with a smile & work so hard to keeping the common areas and rooms spotless. We have been coming here since Bluebird Opened it up and it is the Only Place we will continue to stay at when we visit Saratoga Springs.
