As a first time traveler to "The Hamptons" I/we wanted someplace to stay that was actually in the Southhampton village. There are many places to stay in the hotel/motel category on Long Island and also some in the B&B category. The choice of this Boutique B&B was a winner, hands down. Here's why. Location: it's right in town (Southhampton) so...

The room was extremely cosy and comfortable and well cleaned. The inn is right in the middle of the town so no car is needed to get around. There are lots of quaint little shops and boutiques. A nice walk to the beach or take the car and drive to...

This house is truly wonderful – it’s like taking a travel back in early American history. The common areas are beautifully decorated with ultimate attention to details – even if you sometimes feel you may be in an antique shop or a museum… The room was extremely clean, cosy and comfortable, with a great and stylish bathroom and plenty of...

Travelled to the hamptons recently with two young children. Found it extremely hard to find a b&b suitable for children. 1708 was perfect as has several small cottages out the back in lovely grounds with two bedrooms. Children could even play around the cottage on well kept gardens. Breakfast was great with staff making any request. Afternoon tea was also...

We decided to make a weekend visit to 'the Hamptons' on our recent trip to the U.S. east coast to see how the 'other half' (or one percent if you prefer) live. There are some nice little summer shacks in 'the Hamptons' ..... you really should go see them. But this is about The 1708 House. What a great spot...

We went to the Hamptons for a womans get away and stayed at the 1708 House. "We were only going to stay two nights but ended up staying three. Skip was a wealth of information and was a cordial host. I think Southampton is better than West Hampton. Better shops, less NYCish and a nice hometown. I live in Marblehead,...
