I reserved the deluxe suites for Sept. Weds 16 thru Fri 18th 2020 ( this wk.) I was doing it to surprise my hubby we were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary. well it was a surprize all right for both of us. Door was hard to open. They didn't have masks on She pulled her shirt up over her mouth and he pulled up mask after my hubby kept backing away from him. room smelt, uncleaned in who knows when, drop ceiling tiles were broke and falling out, no fire alarm just the holder same with hair dryer. I had to dust our beds headboards, kill spiders, clean coffee pot and there was someones pill in one of the coffee cups could get wifi to work. Beds and pillows were like sleeping on floor. So what does that tell you. The housekeeper would be gone and shame on the owners for not checking it before putting people in that room. We called them left message. Ask them to come see us. Never heard back we got up next morning packed and left at 9:30 next morning. They more than likely didn't even know we left and didn't stay. Please drive the 6 to 11 miles to verona lots of hotels. I 'm pretty sure if it someone from the health dept that got that room it would be closed they didn't abide by the virus clean to reopen.…
We rented both the two bedroom and a room with 2queen beds for 6 adults and my grandson. All of our interactions with the owners and staff were great, very pleasant people. We like the location, walk to beach and restaurants but set off the main street.Seeing as most things were still shut down due to virus it was quieter than usual. The rooms were clean, the bedding smelled wonderful. It is decorated to give you a nice beachy feel. We had a good rain storm one evening. The two bedroom has a porch with a couple chairs where we sat and enjoyed the rain with ice cream from Thier store , after a hot weather week.
Fridge made annoying noise all night, took ten mins to adjust water temp, bed like sleeping on floor ants in bathroom. No one there for check out charged wrong card and avoided emails! Internet booking said pay at property but no one is there to check out with before 11 so they just charged card on file which wasn’t how I wanted to pay. I contacted property twice about this and they ignored all contact.
We wanted a jacuzzi suite but the rates at Turningstone were more than we wanted to pay. Carbones was in our price range and is a gem off the beaten path! Check in is hassle free and we stayed in Suite 7-no mildew smell at all. Clean, tidy with lots of little hidden amenities like dishes, makeup wipes and bubble bath under the counter. This attention to detail is why we prefer mom & pop suites to larger chains. The decor was tastefully decorated and updated and the jacuzzi was clean and easy to operate. We were there for the storm of the century and lost power in the middle of the night but we stayed warm, dry and cozy. We will definitely be returning again and again. Save room 7 for us! We had a wonderful time!
Stayed here last weekend. Note the new name under new ownership is "Carbone's Beachside". My small suite was nice. Furnishings are dated but room was comfortable. My only wish was that there was a table in front of the couch. There was a foot rest but easy to spill a drink as not a solid surface. Place had an imitation fire place which was a nice touch. You are not on the water but a short walk across the street. There are also grills on the property for your use. All in all it was what I expected and fit my needs.
