Clean! Well organized and VERY helpful staff. We arrived late on a very cold winter night to a cozy room with the heater running, a lamp left on and a place to plug in our vehicle. Such a warm inviting room after a long day of driving.

Staff is there 24hrs a day and even came to rescue us and our horses/trailer in a snow storm! Cannot say enough good things about how well this place is run. We now stay here even break up our trips up north to stop in and stay. Super easy to rebook as they are well organized and keep info on file.

Very nice and quiet motel. The property is clean and well maintained. Beautiful view of the treeline from window and room was quiet and cozy. After a full day of driving and sightseeing I had the best sleep.. affordable room rates too. I highly recommend this motel if you go through big river.

I had an appointment in Big River and this was the newest hotel in the area so I decided to stay there. I encountered three problems which I will talk about below.

When I first walked into the room the toxic smell of laundry detergent hit me. I have never been in a hotel/motel with this strong of an odour in the room. To deal with it I had to leave the window open and bathroom fan on. Now that I am home I am going to have to wash all my clothes and jacket that I had in the room.

Management - you need to deal with this. More and more people are developing chemical sensitivities. Unscented detergent is readily available. If and when you fix this problem please post a reply to this post to let potential customers know about it.

The second problem was with the bathroom sink. The water pressure is incredible. Like a fire hose. It blasts out all over the counter and all over you.

Management - all you need to do is reach under the sink and adjust those little valves. Problem fixed.

The third issue I had, was the memory foam mattress. A 2"? Memory foam topper is being used over the top of these mattresses. Not overly bad but new mattresses would have been so much nicer. Until that room warmed up the memory foam was awfully stiff.

That said, I would stay there again if they deal with the chemicals they use for cleaning. It is an older place, so one cannot expect too much, but it did have a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, cable TV so your not lacking too much.

It is only about a 2 - 3 block walk to the restaurant which made for a nice walk.

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night and we got horrible service. I called and booked a room with the male owner and said I was paying cash for the room when we arrived, they still needed a credit card number which I gave them to hold a room for us. We arrived at 6;30 pm after a day of fishing. The office was closed with a note on it to call for a room. The female owner answered and said she was not going to give us a room. She charged our card before we arrived there and told us to go home(we live 2 1/2 hours away). Finally after my husband talked to her she told us there were keys in the mailbox. The room had a double bed and a twin bed in it, I requested a Queen size bed. when we went to pay in the morning she charged us for using both beds. Also we had to go to the store and buy ice and water for the room as the office was closed for the evening and we could not access to the amenities that we paid for . They are the only motel in town so I guess they can be rude to the customers.

I stayed two nights and was pleased with the choice. The owners are friendly and take good care of the premises. It is immaculate and my stay was comfortable. I recommend it. This is a small town and I met many friendly people. Don't miss eating at Third and Main.

Stayed for a couple of nights on business in the area. Family that owns the Motel is very friendly and welcoming. The Motel itself was very clean and modern with rooms being fairly large. The area is beautiful around Big River with the trees and lakes. I would recommend staying here and will stay here again next time I’m through the area.

Decided to stay here for one night while on a fishing trip to Cowan Lake. The lady at the front desk was very nice, providing with a host of information on Big River and area. She was more than welcoming. Room, beds, bathroom were very clean. Flat screen TV with a host of channels to choose from. Room was equipped with a coffee pot and a mini fridge. The bed was firm yet comfortable. We had a good nights sleep. The Motel is situated close to the highway and you get a bit of vehicle traffic noise. Although the highway didn't seem all that busy. The motel is located on the outskirts of town. All in all a one nights stay costs $115.00 taxes included. I definitely will stay here again.

Nestled in the Boreal forest, beside beautiful lakes and creeks, big river is a tiny town with a big heart. And Rose, the manager of the Timberland could not be more reflective of that spirit. The staff here a lovely, the grounds Nicky landscaped, all perks you wouldn't expect from a small motel. This is an economically priced property without a lot of frills, but everything you could need. Great that the rooms have fridges and microwaves, they are clean, and the beds are nice and comfy.

The motel is surprisingly quiet given its proximity to the road. The rooms are quiet for the most part as long as fellow patrons don't slam doors which did happen at 5:30Am during my stay as truckers went to work. That is more a comment in the rudeness of people not the hotel itself.

My only other suggestion is that a safety chain on the inside of the door would be nice for privacy when in the room. I'd also suggest switching out the outdoor lightbulb outside hearth room to a yellow tint or something that doesn't attract mosquitoes. At night the window and door is crawling with them (true it is the north country) but if you open the door at night be prepared for the little critters to bunk down with you for the night.

I stayed one night and it was very nice.

My expectations were low- as there is no website or much information online.
But it was very clean and enjoyable.

My room had two beds, a mini-fridge, TV with cable, and table and chair set.

You can drive to a few local eateries to get a bite to eat. Ask the front desk for recommendations.

Lots of parking, easy to find.

I'm not sure what time the front desk closes, but you will have to book ahead if arriving in the evening.

I stayed here for three days for work. The rooms are nice, clean and comfy. Although not large, they are adequate for singles and couples. The owners are great and don't put up with problem guests. Your ensured a pleasant stay here. Would definitely recommend and stay there again if able.
