We enjoyed a 1 night stay at Serena Inn and the service was very good. We got a 2-bedroom suite and the rooms were large and clean. I didn't care for the shower which was tiny, and the shower curtain kept sticking to me as I was turning around to shower. Our friends ended up in the room right next...

Stayed here only one night, alas, prior to heading to the coast. Really wish we had stayed in Stonetown longer. The hotel is wonderful- we had a room with a balcony overlooking the sea, which I highly recommend- perfect place to watch the dhows sneak by whilst sipping wine or swinging on the hammock. The hotel also provided evening entertainment...

Been here 2 weeks with one remaining and will be sad to leave. The hotel has a fabulous old colonial feel to it with huge open swathes to the building. Despite that the numerous very professional security guards give you a great feeling of security around the place. The staff and the security guards are all very genuinely friendly with...

I stayed here for just one night on the way to a resort on the other side of the island and wished I had booked for more nights. The Inn is beautiful. The décor is really lovely, the room I had was sensational - large with a balcony overlooking the beach, and the location was great. We only had breakfast...

After 10 days in the bush, our family of five adults spent three days at the Zanzibar Serena Inn. It was truly a special treat. The buildings and decor are lovely, the location on the beach is indeed serene and welcoming, the food was tasty and plentiful, the massages were first rate, and the staff was accommodating and responsive. Note...

This would have to be probably the best hotel we have stayed at. The hotel is a refurbished old building and the decor fits perfectly with the location. Rooms have beautiful private balconies overlooking the water. There can be no more romantic site than sitting having breakfast/dinner looking out at the dhows sailing past. We loved the local orchestra entertaining...

I stayed 4 nights at the Serna last year, straight from having climbed Mt Kilimanjaro. The comfort was superb and much needed. The people at arrival, from the doormen, concierge and front desk were brilliant. Big Joe and Suleiman certainly know how to welcome. The rooms were great, and the location, right on the point is just "location, location, location"....

We stayed here for one night because we wanted to be in Stone Town. This is an awesome hotel. It is a member of the prestigious list of Small Luxury Hotels of the World and no doubt it is one. The ocean view from the rooms and the dining area was beautiful. The restaurants are nice. Truly an amazing experience.

Very "olde world", we felt like we had been transported back to a grand era of travel long gone, with beautiful decor, helpful polite staff and fresh sea breezes wafting through the open windows. The breakfast room overlooks a small beach and you are entertained with early morning exercise rituals of the locals and a passing array of water craft...

The Serena Inn is a beautiful hotel located right in the old Stone Town of Zanzibar. If you are looking for a beach vacatiion, this is not it. They have a lovely pool and beautiful views overlooking the water but you cannot swim in the ocean there. They have a nice restaurant with water views and the upstairs seafood restaurant...
