We Loved this hotel. Located in the heart of Stone Town with direct access to the beach. We’ve not once needed a taxi as it’s within walking distance of all the attractions in this historic location. Staff was great and really very friendly and super helpful. The room/apartment is big and we loved the use of local Arab/Asian architecture and furniture to retain the historical charm of the place.

We spent 2 nights in the Dhow Palace in January 2018. The location of the hotel is excellent, in a quiet street in the heart of the old Stone Town. The room are spacious and the beds are comfortable. The breakfasts are generous. W e did not have lunch and dinner in the hotel. There’s a swimming pool to relax in the hotel. The staff is professional.

I stayed here in Jan 2021 with a few friends on holiday. We came on holiday for a few days as we were traveling around Zanzibar. The hotel is nice. Very historic looking architecture, we felt like we were staying a place that was a part of the history of the place. It was in a central part of town plus the breakfast was decent. Service was ok overall but we had a major issue with one of the receptionists. We don't know what issue he has had in the past but he was very very bad. He yelled at at us a few times and we generally felt mistreated by him. Please make sure you avoid him at all costs. His name is Abdi Khalfan. I hope the hotel management closely monitors him. Otherwise the hotel is fine and worthwhile. Pleasant travels!

Somewhat clean hotel in a great location. It’s a bit on the rustic side - you need to turn on the hot water, the cleanliness of the pillows is questionable, and the breakfast seems kind of unsanitary - but the location and price are very good.
