I visited Mbweni Ruins Hotel because that is the launch place for visiting Chumbe Island, the marine conservency island. Courteous Staff , amazing product and Marriott brand! If you are going to Zanzibar, you cannot afford to miss Protea hotel. Its a bit far from Stone town but totally worth it. It is perfect if you are looking for a quiet place to stay with family or friends.

Its 15-20 mins away from Stone Town. A beautiful place by the ocean. Serene and a good place to relax. We spent a day at Protea Hotel, Zanzibar and surely recommend this place for its location, food and drinks.

To reach Protea is a bit of a bumpy ride, but once you enter you find this place heaven, with excellent view from room balcony, restaurant is also good and rates are pretty economical, overall at the cost which room is available this place is worth it.

Location of this hotel is just perfect as it's only 10 min drive from the airport and about 20min from Stone Town. There's a free shuttle that goes from the hotel to Stone Town three times a day. Rooms are nice and clean, all with sea-facing balcony. It's not a big hotel, it can hold about 30 people max at... More

What more could you ask for from a hotel but to have a beautiful location on the Ocean, a great restaurant to enjoy great food, drink and vistas, comfortable rooms, friendly and helpful staff, close to the airport, close to Stone Town ( a UNESCO World Heritage Site) but then it has beautiful gardens and the Mbweni Ruins right there.... The hotel is small and quiet. We only stayed one night basically as an in-transit stop. Room was clean with nice large balcony with ocean view and AC. The breakfast was good, but very expensive at $16pp. The beach is nice, but note it's not really a swimming beach except maybe during high tide. Grounds are pretty and nice to... More

My wife and I stayed 5 nights on our special and first ever trip to Zanzibar. Staff were absolutely great and room staff went out of their way to decorate our room nicely and lovingly for our celebrations. The approach road to the hotel is absolutely terrible, a nightmare ride for about 10 minutes each way. The free shuttle to/from... More

Nice area, with a small swimmingpool og beach. The rooms and the service are very good. The breakfast is wonderful. A okey hotel for a familyvacation. There is a restaurant at the hotels area, but it took between half an hour and an hour before the food came.
