The lodge is in a great position with views of QE II park and the Rwenzori Mountains in the background. However the lodge is starting to become run down, a lot of maintenance is required to bring it up to standard. The place looks tired. You wouldn't swim in the pool. The staff are friendly and keen to help and... More

Dear EJBeck Thanks for taking the time to share feedback. We have passed on your comments to the lodge manager. The style of Kyambura Gorge Lodge is eclectic or 'shabby chic' which reflects our company philosophy of reusing and recycling existing materials.  As you may know, the lodge was once a coffee processing plant. The contemporary interior design is very popular with... Nice room with stylish bathroom. The water in the shower was warm and under the pressure. Not like other places. Wi-fi was poor and just in the restaurant, but who needs that with a lovely view and swimming pool :)

We stayed three nights at this lodge, having chosen it for the luxury reputation. The Volcanoes Safaris lodges are supposed to be some of the nicest in Uganda and Rwanda. (We also stayed at Bwindi Lodge, and enjoyed a drink at Virunga Lodge in Rwanda) This lodge had great style, but was really sub-par as far as reception and staff... More

We had really a great Easter break! Nicely furnished rooms, amazing view, very good service and food. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is the cost of the drinks (definitively pricey) and some challenges in linking with UWA and other local tourist service providers. Overall greatly recommended but better to plan what and how to visit in advance

Dear Diego N Thanks for taking the time to post a review and give your feedback. We are glad you enjoyed staying at Kyambura Gorge Lodge. Regarding the cost of the drinks, the majority of guests staying at the lodge have an all-inclusive accommodation and meals and drinks package. The Easter promotion to local residents provided (highly discounted) accommodation and... More

If I had to use one word to describe this incredible place, it would have to be WOW. Certainly not a very sophisticated word but that is what comes to mind. The lodge is a recycled coffee plantation where all materials have been reused or up-cycled as they like to say and all the materials used work perfectly together. The... More

Dear Teresa H Thank you very much for the five star rating and the excellent review. We are delighted that you had such a great time at Kyambura Gorge Lodge. The Kyambura Gorge Lodge is a Volcanoes Safari property and a jewel to be discovered! It doesn't look like much upon arrival, but once inside the property, you will be very pleasantly surprised by how beautiful and contemporary in feel it is. Thank you for the positive words about your stay. The panoramic views from the lodge are very difficult to convey without visiting aren't they? Regarding your comment that the lodge 'doesn't look much on arrival' this has been done intentionally, in order to blend with the environment view and to make (re)use of local materials. As I'm sure you heard... More

We stayed here for 2 nights of a 7 day safari. The rather attractive hut-type chalets are perched along the end of a shallow gorge, looking down into Queen Elizabeth park. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Situated on the edge of the Kyambura Gorge and Queen Elizabeth National Park, in Uganda, one of Africa's finest national parks, Volcanoes newest lodge, Kyambura Gorge Lodge, has stunning views over the Gorge and the lush savannah of the park, with the peaks of the Rwenzori Mountains in the distance. The main lodge building was originally a coffee store and processing plant, surrounded by coffee plantations. The original structure has been sensitively restored to create a stunning living space, balancing the history of the building with the location and creating a series of distinct luxurious contemporary spaces for guests. Eight beautiful, spacious bandas have been carefully nestled into the hillside, each with their own luxury bathroom. Each room has a different aspect of the panoramic views across the gorge, savannah and mythical Rwenzoris. Each banda is uniquely appointed, adopting a different colour theme. ... more   less
