First off it was so confusing as to who we were renting from was it Sandbanks Summer Village or East Lake Shores? Upon check in we were only provided with key and parking pass, and no other instructions. Cleanliness of cottage was extremely poor, We had dirty dishes in the dishwasher and dirty clothes / towels in the washing machine. Plates, silverware, glasses, and cookware in kitchen were dirty and we had to clean everything prior to using. Kitchen faucet was extremely loose to the point that it felt like it would pop right off. Air Conditioner unit was clogged with dirt. Ceiling fan in main bedroom stopped working the last night. Mattress in main bedroom was old and saggy. BBQ was dirty and rusty and no way to clean. Not sure what housekeeping did prior to check in but it did not seem like they did anything nor was anyone checking on their work. We had no heads up on the process to book the pool, had to line up like concert goers at 8am to get a 1 hour spot which was not guaranteed. One night we showed up at 7pm for our reserved time and pool was closed, no sign indicating why it was closed. Next day we were told that they were closing at 6pm because they had no staff, drove by at 7pm and pool was still open. All staff with exception to front office were teenagers, lifeguards did not pay attention to people in pool as they were too busy talking to friends or guests they knew. For price we paid expected a lot more attention to detail ad better service, will not be coming back.

This was our 5th year coming back to Sandbanks Summer Village Cottages. We are group of 6 families (25 people) who rent 6 cottages each year. Over the years, we have recommended these cottages to countless other families. Unfortunately, this year's stay was disappointing to all primarily due to the lack of cleanliness and dirt in our cottages. It was as if the cottage had not even been cleaned prior to our arrival. Dishwasher was full, the kitchen and the floors were filthy (see attached picture for the inside of the coffee machine filled with mold) and the closets full of stuff with no room to hang clothes. I have sent e-mails to both the new management (East Shore) and Sandbanks Summer Villages with no reply from either. Super disappointing for the steep price that is charged here (and that increases) each year.

Avoid this place if you want to have a real vacation time. Otherwise ou will be asked to stand in line at 8am to book your hour at the only pool they have! they allowed only 1 hour a day per family!!!! SO basically I drove to a place that only offers 1 hour of entretement for my kids and a horrible beach with pure rocks on it, you can't even walk. HORRIBLE experience!!!!!!!!!! Please dont go to this please! People at the reception they dont even guide you to visit a good beach! we have to find one 40 minutes away. The village dont have any vending machine! not even the possibilit of buying a coffee! nothing! I will definitetly dont come back nor reccomend to anyone I know!

My family and I stayed at the resort between June 27 to July 4, 2021. This was our 2nd year in a row. However, there were many issues of concern this time around. The biggest one being the lack of communication. Upon arrival, we noticed how dirty things seemed to be. There were eggs and other food debris on the porch and on the picnic table. Inside, the floors hadn’t been properly cleaned/vacuumed with bugs and sand on the floors. The bunk bed mattress cover was wet and stained. We also had no wifi. Over the next few days, I tried calling repeatedly or went to the office to ask for it to be repaired. I was told that IT would get back to me. I also received a call from Kerry, not sure of the spelling, and she said she would personally call me one evening to ensure that everything was taken care of. She never did call me back. Someone finally came on Tuesday evening. We had three full days without wifi. We’re on vacation but people still need to be able to do things and depend on this kind of thing. Once it was up and running, it barely worked. We had better luck using our friends wifi next door. The communication around park passes was not relayed properly to guests. Speaking of communication, the telephone number inside the cottages and the one on the paperwork handed out is impossible to get through. No one answers at all. When I received a call from Kerry from a different number and called it back, I got through to the office. Please provide guests with the correct numbers and update your information. We had another issue due to unclear communication surrounding the adult pool. The email we had received indicated that the adult pool would allow youth 12 and over to use it from noon to 4:00p.m. When we signed up and brought both families over, two ladies that own cottages nearby made a big fuss about it so we didn’t bother. Some staff agreed that things are poorly communicated. There’s no atmosphere there. One recommendation is to have some music. The restaurant was closed but something could be set up outside for the guests (food and drink). The tennis courts weren’t ready. The kayaks and paddle boards didn’t arrive until the Friday. Trying to use them was complicated as well. There was one staff member with no sign-up sheet and complete confusion as to when others could use something. The volleyball net wasn’t up. A big concern for us was the disgusting conditions of the beach by the lake. It was littered in bird feces. We never saw one goose or other birds there so it must have been there for a while. Why nobody went there and cleaned that up or tried to stay on top of it is hard to understand. You couldn’t even walk around. It’s also a health hazard. Overall, we are disappointed with our stay and will not be back unless major improvements are made. When guests are spending over $2,000 to stay somewhere, they expect much better all around. We tried contacting management but weeks later not even a response or an acknowledgment.
